Iraqi PM: Abu Musab Al-Zarqawi Killed

By PATRICK QUINN

BAGHDAD, Iraq Jun 8, 2006 (AP)— Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the al-Qaida-linked militant who led a bloody campaign of suicide bombings, kidnappings and hostage beheadings in Iraq, has been killed in a U.S. air raid north of Baghdad, Iraq's prime minister said Thursday.

Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki said al-Zarqawi was killed Wednesday evening along with seven aides.

Imus just asked if Rahman (the spiritual adviser... right), was like Billy Graham to American presidents.

Just put him to sleep.

For only the second time ever, I went over to DU to see what the reaction there is. Here's the one of the first replies to their posting of the news:

"Convenient too that this would happen now....guess we should just all forget about that Haditha mess, the fact that we are approaching 2,500 dead and the fact that our economy is in big trouble."

Unbelieveable. These people are pathological.

The economy is in trouble?

"One of Bigley's brothers said he was glad Zarqawi was dead but would rather have seen him face justice for beheading the British hostage."

***

A number of pundits on tv talked about this too -- that maybe it would have been better to bring him in alive. I'm not so sure myself. Fanatics like him aren't going to be all that useful in prison -- doubt he would spill his guts and tell anyone about the inner workings of Al Quaeda and the numerous terrorist organizations. It would have been a waste of time and effort, not to mention the financial cost to keep the guy in jail. And there would have also been the possibility that someone would have sprung him from prison too.

No, I think our troops and the Iraqis did enough. Now he's in God's hands and He will mete out the best punishment.

Tell your son that we think of them every day, that we pray for their safety, thank them for their duty and that the American flag still makes me cry with USA Pride.

The economy is in trouble?

Remember, they work in fastfood and live in Mom's basement... Those $5 lattes take a real bite of the budget.

Just for fun I asked for grilled bonefish. The waiter didn't know what to say.

I hope not, they are a prized and valued gamefish down here, they only eat them in the Bahamas.

They said on the radio that they put two 500 pounders on the target.

We dropped Michael Moore and Ted Kennedy on Zarqawi?

But seriously, this is great news!

Interesting that Zarqawi was found in Sadr City. Gusss it's too much to ask that Mooki was the "spiritual advisor" involved.

Also that house look rather upscale. The fact that it looks quite large and has a swamp cooler.

Wonder who gets the $20mil?

I am not sure how the idea that the economy is in trouble gets so much traction. I hear it everywhere, from people standing in line to buy lottery tickets, to coworkers driving their brand new cars.

No, there wasn't near enough damage in the photos to result from dropping those two porkers.
