"These gals are not famous for their ideas. Their ideas are not exceptional . If anyone else were to advance them they would not be heard. They are heard simply because they are celebrities, and intellectually no more to be taken seriously than the Dixie Chicks."
I never suspected their ideas would be exceptional...they're liberals afterall.
I wouldn't say they were celebrities before...but they sure are now aren't they?
They have been made into celebrities by those who wish to discredit the Bush administration. No doubt that Bush was flomexed, or that no one in his administration expected this sucker punch. But he had been in office for just over seven months and he has inherited the machinery at work that day. Why these gals got on Bush's case when any reasonable person could see that he had no way of knowing what was coming--except by listening to a low ranking official who had an inkling but no real knowledge and who had been unable to persuade anyone in the previous administration to change course-- is clear evidence that they are unconcerned with getting at the truth. If they were, they would admit that few of the recommendations of the 9/11 commission that have been made policy, have made a real difference. In deed, in my opinion, the country would have been better off if the commission had never been created.
