That's why they were so eager to execute McVeigh. They were afraid if he had enough time to think about it, he might start talking in order to get his sentence reduced to life in prison without parole.

That POS needed execution. However, I would have waited until we knew what he knew. His execution must be a record for the shortest time from sentencing to execution.

"His execution must be a record for the shortest time from sentencing to execution."

I don't think so. There is one from Washington State. Jeremy Sagastegui raped and killed a child on 11-19-95. He was executed on 10-13-98. That is 3 years from time of crime until execution. He wanted to die so defended himself and had no appeals.

Tim McVeigh blew up the Federal Building on 4-19-95 and was executed on 6-11-2001. That is six years from time of crime until execution.

McVeigh was denied an appeal by the Federal Court and because he wanted to die refused any further appeals to the United States Superior Court. That is why his execution then was done pronto.

From Article"McVeigh had been preparing to die since last December, when he asked U.S. District Judge Richard Matsch to waive all future appeals of his death sentence. Matsch complied in a January hearing and the Bureau of Prisons scheduled his execution for May 16."
