Both men claimed to have fleed Saddam's Iraq to seek political asylum. Yousef even claimed to be part of an anti-Saddam resistance group! The funny thing in bringing up Ramzi Yousef is that he worked out of--guess where?--the Phillipines.

Here's the kicker: During the defense portion of the OKC trial, one of McVeigh's attorneys filed a motion based on information putting a man matching Nichols's description in the Phillipines with Yousef. As far as I know, the dates are somewhere between spring, 1992 and mid-winter, 1993, (I don't recall if the exact date has been published) though I'd assume the second half of '92 at the earliest.
