3 Gitmo Detainees Reportedly Hang Selves
(AP) WASHINGTON Three Guantanamo Bay detainees hanged themselves with nooses made of sheets and clothes, the commander of the detention center said Saturday.
They were the first reported deaths among the hundreds of men held at the base in Cuba some of them for up to 4 1/2 years and without charge.
Two men from Saudi Arabia and one from Yemen were found "unresponsive and not breathing in their cells" early Saturday, according to a statement from the Miami-based U.S. Southern Command, which has jurisdiction over the prison. Attempts were made to revive the prisoners, but they failed.
"They hung themselves with fabricated nooses made out of clothes and bed sheets," Navy Rear Adm. Harry Harris told reporters in a conference call from the U.S. base in southeastern Cuba.
Pentagon officials said the three men were in Camp 1, the highest maximum security prison at Guantanamo, and that none of them had tried to commit suicide before.
....
What are we going to do with these guys?
Checking my sympathy meter
Nope, ain't moving
Shiite happens.
You can't see me, but let's just say that I'm ululating.
Don't let the door hit you on the ass
Bummer
Three less to feed, gourmet meals to...
No!!!!! Not that!!!!!
Heh, heh, hee...
Will they still get their virgins? lol
"(S)elves" are really short elves.
Only a couple hundred more to go and then we can close gitmo.
Sounds like it's time to issue extra sheets.
As with Democrats, we should just keeping giving 'em more rope.
"hanged themselves with nooses made of sheets and clothes..."
Sounds like the sheets and clothes did it. Time to ban sheets and clothing.
Only three. Its a start.
This is outrageous! They should not be allowed to stay there 4 1/2 years without paying!
Three hog carcass shrouds, COMING UP!
OMG!! I'm stripping myself and my bed as we speak!
Worm food?
They hung themselves with nooses fabricated from clothes and bed sheets?! There should be an investigation immediately! I will not stand for this kind of abuse of prisoners! Keep in mind that a society is based on how it treats it's prisoners. We, the United States of America, should at the very least supply the Gitmo detainees with REAL AMERICANMADE ROPE (preferrably from Texas)so they can hang themselves properly! Forcing those poor souls to be reduced to using bed sheets! We should be ashamed!!!
Or issue rope.
This is outrageous! They should not be allowed to stay there 4 1/2 years without paying
Post of the day
Ban them? I was thinking extra sheets and clothes for all.
pics?
I'd like to see them all buried with panties on their heads.
Um, well, not exactly, not right now!
Gitmo needs rope!
Need more rope.
So three less taxpayer dinners of glazed chicken and rice pilaf.
too bad. Do they think that if they were charged with something formal, they would have been freed? I'm assuming they were held for 4 1/2 years because we knew they were quite guilty enough to keep for quite a long time.
Seriously. I'm not sure I understand the reasoning behind keeping prisoners (especially here; mental patients may be another story) from killing themselves. Keeping them from doing harm to others, yes. Limiting the rope to go around, no.
There's really only one thing to do...
¡¡¡Ayyyyyyyyyyyyy, piñata!!!
LOL...
Either that or no more clothes and sheets for these guys. Frankly, I'm with you. But you know the deal...
When this news came out today on FOX today they had a phone interview with O'Reilly. He is on his way back from visiting Gitmo and had been in the area where these men committed suicide. He will be having a special report on Monday night of his visit.
The interesting thing he said was this. He noticed the windows in the cell block (where these men were) were covered up. He asked why. He was told this was because of the Human Rights group (including Red Cross) complained the men had no privacy so the windows were covered. O'Rielly commented the guard would not be able to see into the cells as to what they men were doing then. He was told, "that correct".
Should be an interesting Monday night O'Rielly in light of this news.
BTW -- does anybody know where they are finding all the 72 virgins for all these dead terriorists?
Nope, ain't moving
LOL!
If I thought the rest would hang themselves, I'd agree with you that we should issue more sheets and clothes.
But I bet they would not. So the next best thing is to take away their sheets and clothes to make sure that they don't!
Bill O'Reilly was there on Fri doing interviews. I wonder if the timing has anything to do with getting press attention.
Bill gave us a preview on Friday when he said the prisoners tend to gain weight when they come to Gitmo.
I hope this starts a trend. It will save us the trouble of doing it.
Send more ropes to Gitmo!
I just heard Trace Gallagher state that the US thinks these suicides were an act of warfare, not desperation, since they did it in unison.
That's right! This is a terrorist attack on the US.
Batteries dead?
How did you get that photo straight out of their cells so quick?
You must have excellent connections.
Wow........I can not believe anyone is thrilled about another human being commiting suicide,I think it is an awful thing.
Tomorrow the news media will be blaming the U.S. for this "dreadful loss of innocent life". They will be claiming that clinical depression, caused by being incarcerated without a fair trial, was the reason for the suicides. They will claim that our troops are indifferent to human life and are murderers. They will babble, rail, carp, lie, confuse and spew, and nobody will believe them anymore. The news of three more dead terrorists is uplifting and good, and all the drive-by-media spinning in the world won't change that wonderful reality one little bit.

Let's hope this is a trend.
Great news, saved the taxpayers money.
