That's about 570 junk calories in a large Mello Yellow. Nice.

And does anyone wonder why obesity/being overweight/type II diabetes is an epidemic in our society?

No one wonders why, but what's that have to do with taking away choices from people? Last time I saw someone forced to eat all these high-fat foods was...never.

I think it's due more to higher stress levels and a lack of exercise.

Consuming sugar in and by itself does not cause diabetes.
The correlation of sugar consumption with diabetes is almost always associated with those who are already morbidly obese, those who do no exercise and have other destructive diets, or who already have other health conditions such as alcoholism.

I do. Why?

I work out four times a week, cardio on two other days, and eat Wendy's about twice a week. I usally have a double with cheese and a 'biggie' fry, sometimes with a Coke, sometimes with a Diet Coke. Guess what? I'm not overweight (6'1", around 240 lbs) and don't have type II diabetes. It's called personal responsibility....

actually the bigger problem is the high fructose corn syrup that is put into these large drinks and canned soda and just about everything else.

If you cut it out of your diet you will watch you appetite decrease sustaintally. And you would never be ABLE to drink this much soda in one sitting.

this addititive suppresses your "full" mechanism. Start buying things with sugar again and you will see what i mean.

Oh and don't be fooled Diet soda is even worse

That's where the epicenter of the epidemic really is.

No one forces people to consume these.

If people didn't buy them, the fast food joints and soda companies wouldn't offer those sizes.

You CAN get a bottle of water there.
