unless he made a secret deal with Bill Clinton that he wouldn't run against his wife. I don't think he and Bill are very close. I can't believe that, in his heart of hearts, Al doesn't secretly resent Bill for not doing the decent thing and resigning during the impeachment. If he had, Al would've assumed the presidency, and would've been the incumbent in the 2000 race - a huge advantage over W.

If Al had any brains or courage, he would have threatend to resign over the Monica mess. And if Bill didn't then step aside, he could've resigned and been in a very strong position for 2000.

But, alas, the Clinton's have his FBI file, and he is a coward...
