June is Gay Pride Month

June is recognized as Pride month for American and American Eagle's gay, lesbian, bi-sexual and transgendered (GLBT) employees.

The multi-colored Rainbow Flag, a symbol of GLBT pride, will be displayed in the atrium at HDQ1, HDQ2 and FSU. The flag, designed by Gilbert Baker, debuted at the 1978 San Francisco Gay and Lesbian Freedom Day parade. It is comprised of six colors, representing life, healing, sun, nature, harmony and spirit. It represents the diversity and the unity of GLBT persons everywhere.

Historical Perspective In June of 1969, a group of gays and lesbians resisted harassment and mistreatment, setting in motion a chain of events that would become known as the Stonewall Uprising. This marked the birth of the modern gay and lesbian equal rights movement.

Historians writing about New York City in the 1960s describe how law enforcement officers frequently raided bars known to serve gay and lesbian patrons. Employees of these establishments and others were often arrested without legitimate charges.

One night, something different happened.

When police raided the Stonewall Inn, the patrons decided to fight back. For several nights, crowds grew outside the Stonewall Inn. The event became known as the Stonewall Uprising. Since that day, the GLBT community commemorates Stonewall as a way to reaffirm a commitment to achieving equal rights.

Today What began as a gay pride movement is beginning to evolve into a broadly humanist movement protective of all people.

This encompasses a central idea: All intolerance is unacceptable. Beyond tolerance lies full acceptance of each other as human beings - a celebration of the diversity of that comprises the human experience.

Ending intolerance starts with eradicating hate crimes. "Hate crimes rend the fabric of our society and fragment communities because they target a whole group and not just the individual victim. Hate crimes are committed to cause fear to a whole community. A violent hate crime is intended to "send a message" that an individual and "their kind" will not be tolerated, many times leaving the victim and others in their group feeling isolated, vulnerable and unprotected."

The AMR Diversity Advisory Council is hosting "Erase Hate" at the Flagship University Auditorium Thursday, June 15 at 6:00 p.m. Judy Shepard, the mother of Matthew Shepard, a young gay man who was killed in a violent hate crime in Wyoming in 1998, will be the keynote speaker. GLEAM works closely with the Rainbow Sales Team. Established in 1993, American is the only major airline to have a sales team dedicated to the GLBT community. The relationship with this community has generated significant revenue from additional group travel, corporate accounts and travel agencies. The site where I am currently contracted is also celebrating GLBT month, in much the same manner. Lots of large companies do, to avoid pressure and bad publicity from GLBT advocacy groups and their willing helpers in the MSM.

Well, that settles it for me....I won't be flying on a sex-deviate-supportive airline like American and American Eagle, and have told them so. Until the end of the extortion (threat of legal action against them) from companies with no backbone or principles occurs, I'll take my business elsewhere.

.....Indeed....! I simply cannot understand the "pride" associated with what are basically un-natural and disgusting sexual activities....! but, again.... another sign of the sick times in which we live....Lord help anyone who might want to start a "Straight Pride" month...they would be branded as "homophobic" or something....!!

Exactly. Most large companies do it simply to keep from being ripped to shreds by the media. It's a lot cheaper to declare a month for something than spend millions trying to counter fire against the drive by media.

Don't doubt that for a second. Rush may be right in saying this is primarily a conservative country, but the liberals have taken over control of government and society, and there is no going back.

The left says that corporate America (including the media) is inherently right wing and capitalist.

There exist those on the inside who do not agree with these views. Some are the top guys like Bill Gates. Some work deeper in the established office culture. Some companies "don't care" and conceded office politics to the left because of fears of reprisals and negative press.

I will say that it is wrong to force employees to take "diversity training" political re-education and have them parrot back that same-sex sodomy is not a sin and in fact should be celebrated.

Corporations give to all sorts of charities that do not benefit the consumer, the employee, or the shareholder.

The agenda of the liberal activists must be exposed. If that requires boycotts, so be it. Employees should not have to surrender their political and religious beliefs as a condition of employment.

Target chooses to honor communist Woman's Day and Gay Pride Month but ignore Christmas (calling it instead a Holiday Season).

Any group of holidays in proximity can be called "Holiday season".

For instance:
Flag Day - June 14
Father's Day - June 18
Junteenth - June 19
Emancipation Day - June 20
Summer Solstice - June 21
