Great photo! Love those shirts the twins are wearing.

On this day in …

* 1775, the United States Army was founded

* 1777, the Continental Congress in Philadelphia adopted the Stars and Stripes as the national flag
(Today is Flag Day)

* 1943, the Supreme Court ruled schoolchildren could not be
compelled to salute the flag of the United States if doing so conflicted with their religious beliefs

Cape Cod Times article:

William T. Kerr, is considered by many to be the founder of Flag Day and lobbied most of his life to make it a national holiday.

Born the son of a Civil War veteran in Pittsburgh in 1868, William first proposed the idea for Flag Day after making a speech about the flag in Chicago at the age of 13.

Six years later, he formed the American Flag Day Association of Western Pennsylvania.

While there are several claims to the title of Flag Day founder, William is the only claimant in a photograph of President Harry Truman signing the holiday into law in 1949.

Yes, Easonc52 ..... Tuesday was a day to feel very proud of our President and his steadfast stance on the war on terror.

I had forgotten about Alberto last night. Thank God, he wasn't very destructive.

I'm happy that you are enjoying Flag Day at the Finest.

Have a Warm Fuzzy Wednesday.

Thank you. That photo was from Flag Day 04, I think. The crepe myrtle are much bigger now, but not much else has changed.

It is an absolutely gorgeous day down here. I've been out trimming roses and puttering in the yard. Chachi loves to help me outside. His job is to drag the bark from the flower beds onto the lawn. He takes this responsibility very seriously. LOL

I am heading back out to finish up what I started. Hope to be back here later.

What wonderful graphics Amy.

I know today is American Flag day but in England due to world cup we are having something of an English renaissance and certainly I am noticing more English flags than ever are being displayed.

We somehow have almost been ashamed to say we are English whereas the Welsh and Scots are proud of it and display their flags at most sporting events. We English however in the past seem to play down our Englishman's and be British using the Union flag however it seems that we have had enough of this and we now want to be English not British.

The following are photos I have taken within the last couple of weeks showing homes and businesses including the High Street in Ashford all decorated with the St George's flag.
