Thanks for the update.

And could be one of your three scenarios - but I just post as I find it;)

bwteim:

the voice of logic or experience, hmmm....

Ummmm, a little of both, huh? But the experience part may have come when driving a patrol car...

TKDietz:

It just depends on how much they are compressed...

I've been off the streets for a good number of years, so my recollections and logical analysis was from as noted above. Obviously haven't kept up on the current methods lately, but thanks for the great compression explanation.

Still doesn't alter my perception of the krappy(tm) work put out by what passes for "journalism" these days. And that observation is also from experience- when I actually ran a small newspaper where we cared about getting the facts straight and even used correct grammar in headlines, let alone body copy. Again, more than a few years ago.

Love that quote!

I tend to agree with Mark Twain's sentiment and only disagree with him on the valuation of shoe making and ditching as low value occupations. I think a person who has to stand on their head in a vat of sh!t probably has more job integrity and ethics than all the "journalists" in the snooze media combined.

Unintended pun..."high" end bathroom vanity?

Yup, didn't hit me until you pointed it out. Good catch! [grin]

...disagree with him on the valuation of shoe making and ditching as low value occupations.
I generalized it internally to a common low value occupation of our time, such as a busboy or dishwasher, instead of the occupations mentioned.
That being said, I've never considered a cobbler/shoe maker job to be a low value occupation myself. Some shoes today sell for several hundred dollars.

...correct grammar in headlines, let alone body copy.
All help appreciated.
