While I was in Nam, my wife would send me the papers from Seattle where she lived at the time. Infrequent letters and one or two tape recordings was all we could manage. There was no email, phone calls or internet and I realized the misinformation published in the liberal press at the time were mostly lies. My wife eventually realized that too. A few of the "war reports" were from my AO and was news to me too. So
not much has changed with the anti-American groups. Soldiers/Marines need to understand that the press will print crap because crap sells.

I oppose the MSM, but support the columnists, reporters, and editors. Now, would someone please kill off a few thousand while I claim to support them?

I think I speak for an overwhelming majority of our troops when I ask organizations like The Ridgefield Coalition to Stop the War to discontinue using Marines, soldiers, airmen and sailors as a means to serve a political end. You are neither supporting us nor honoring us. You are doing the exact opposite.

BUMP!

Connecticut ping! (Thank you, Koblenz)

Please Freepmail me if you want on or off my infrequent Connecticut ping list.

I graduated from Ridgefield High when it was up on the hill, and I still live close enough to FReep this "coalition's" demonstrations if provided with a bit of notice.

Thanks for posting this, Koblenz. There indeed is something rotten in Ridgefield.

Disgusting beyond measure is that The Ridgefield Coalition to Stop the War, mentioned in Ippoliti's letter that you posted, marched down Main Street in this year's Memorial Day Parade.

The day before the parade, another Ridgefield Press article revealed that "The people planning the peace contingent had said their intention was to pay tribute to veterans and their sacrifices, marching to the solemn beat of a drum and carrying respectful signs, while also expressing dissent on the war itself."

Words fail me. Good people of Ridgefield, hide your childrens' eyes!!

Great article, thanks for posting. Mr. Ippoliti said it better than I could, bears repeating:

They do all this under the pretense that they are supporting the troops. However, what they are really doing is using our lives and the issue of our safety and well-being as a means to achieve a political end.

My primary concern is the assertion that these individuals support the troops in Iraq but not our mission. It boggles my mind that this logic is actually utilized on a large scale.
