I just don't believe in letting people buy forgiveness.

I doubt she's looking for any.

Wow, like the US Army cannot afford to equip its soldiers ... but her $130,000 will.

If they don't, it doesn't matter whether they can or can't. Military hospitals don't have the best rehab equipment and soldiers are not as well-equipped as they could be.

I don't know that she's not still a Hollywierd whack job, but at least she's stepping up to the plate and doing something positive.

When the fit hits the shan, I don't care who's in the foxhole with me, just so long as they are helping me to dig deeper or shooting back.

What's not being reported is that after she made her initial comments about just dialing in she went on a rant about the "Christian conservatives" sending the boys off to war and not caring enough to spend the $70 to $100 each to modify the helmets. If anyone can find the quote online please post it.

I've always actually kind of liked Cher, not her music so much but she seemed like a nice, if kooky person who was badly mistreated by Sonny Bono. And I'm sure she does want to see the individual men and women of the military live to a ripe old age, but her preferred method would be to take them out of harms' way and bring all troops home from every spot on the globe.

This helmet think though is purely a stunt on her part to make Bush look bad. Period.

Hmmm. I don't get that at all. I saw her on C-Span yesterday and her only input was to help shield the troops from head injuries. They talked about her many visits to Walter Reed to visit injured Troops but she didn't mention Bush at all.

Her comments were on the Larry King Show. I heard them myself.

I applaud her ACTIONS even tho I disagree with her politics.

Hmmm. Operation Helmet has been in place for over two years. A couple of weeks before they are to go to Congress to testify, Cher makes a large donation and gets invited to testify. She gets all over TV and news bashing Bush. hmmmm.

Did her money go to support the troops by helping to improve their helmets?

Cher is not helping to shoot back. She is doing everything she can to undermine our war politically which results in more dead soldiers. This was a stunt to get her on LK, etc. so she can bash Bush.

"Cher is not helping to shoot back. She is doing everything she can to undermine our war politically which results in more dead soldiers. This was a stunt to get her on LK, etc. so she can bash Bush."

Like most people who don't want to accept that someone on the other side might possibly once in awhile help, you took what I said out of context. Nobody here thinks for one minute that Cher is shooting at anything. Well maybe you do. But she took her money and gave it to a group who is helping to improve their head gear.

I don't care what her reasons were for donating the money. Bush isn't the military and her bashing of the President is no more than any other lefty is going to do. Her political opinions don't mean squat to me. I don't agree with them anyway. But if she's going to send her money to do something that might safe the life of one Marine or Soldier, then I say God Bless her action.

Don't like that? I could really care less.

So am I, so are everyone of those soldiers having to fight it. There is no bigger pacifist than the soldier who has to fight and has fought.

You want us to disarm and present no resistance to the Hitlers, Stalins and terrorists of the world?

Main Entry: pac·i·fism
Pronunciation: 'pa-s&-"fi-z&m
Function: noun
Etymology: French pacifisme, from pacifique pacific
1 : opposition to war or violence as a means of settling disputes; specifically : refusal to bear arms on moral or religious grounds
2 : an attitude or policy of nonresistance

It got her on LK Live and live testimony in front of Congress undermining our war effort resulting in additional US casualties.

ROTFL

Oh nice try lazer brain. Show me where I said I wanted us to disarm.

Point out the words that I used that said "We should disarm our country so as not to stand up to the hitler's and stalins in the world"

You get your talking points from the DNC I think.

Nah what you did was lose the original debate and now you're taking things out of context in an attempt to redirect the argument.

I'll say it again real slow so that you can understand.

There is no bigger pacifist in the world than a Soldier. Especially those who have fought.

Now if you don't believe that, you should try asking some who have fought.

Do they like war?

The answer you will get 90% of the time is going to be no.

But then I guess you would have to understand what I said in order to get the point.

Obviously you don't have that capacity.
