"It makes me wonder if a convoy of 3 is enough."

My son operated in Ramadi last year on a QRF (quick reaction force) which consisted of 3 sometimes 4 hummers. 3 hummers will carry 12 - 16 men.....a squad....with enough fire power to sustain themselves and inflict lots of reciprical damage until help (a QRF) arrives should they come under attack

.....these guys are the best trained in the world....bar NONE!....In this instance it seems they got seperated for some unknown reason....(same happened to my son one day and he has a Purple Heart and a NAM to show for it) it is war and bad shit happens sometimes.....everything doesn't go by the book when the shit hits the fan around you..........

btw....not slamming you for asking the question.....just got carried away...LOL

No problem. Appreciate your post. An earlier poster said they should not have split up the convoy, but as you say -- in spite of the best training in the world -- shite happens.

Also, my gratitude and admiration to your son.

A NAM is a ____ _____ medal?
