I'm not surprised about this and have been wondering when they would be found.

I recall that there had been 2 or 3 news stories about early IEDs made from 155mm artillery shells that contained Sarin a couple of years ago. And, based upon reports after Operation Desert Storm, that the Iraqi's did not put special markings on their chemical shells, I have often wondered if chemical filled shells were sitting around in various ammo dumps completely unnoticed, because the markings on them were no different than HE filled shells.

A hearty congratulations to the Army's National Ground Intelligence Center.

It stands to reason that Saddam would produce more. No one incurs all the development costs, cost of production facilities, cost of equipment, hiring and training costs, etc. to produce just a handful of mortar shells. Given the size of his Army and his warfare with immediate neighbors, Iran especially, I'd expect production in the hundreds, if not thousands.

What we need now are photographs to make this seem "real" to people.

The MSM will remain silent or dissemble. For example, there were reports of Stalin's orchestrated starvation in the Ukraine in 1932. This led to the death of 5-10 million people. But the press remained silent or turned the conversation to other topics. It just never registered as real; after all, no one showed outrage.

Again, Santorum and others need photographs and they need to get them in front of people. Clever people should be able to come up with all kinds of photographic angles on 500 Shells.

I'll second that. Thanks for the ping.
