I think she is chosen to speak based on her status of having the highest GPA in her class, and not some kind of popularity contest or endorsement of her personally on the part of the school, which kind of makes your point out of place and silly.

This does demonstrate that a person with a high GPA and plenty of scholastic ability can be an obnoxious jerk. It also shows how obnoxious jerks can have short sighted fan-followings.

If she wants to turn graduation into Brother Love's Traveling Salvation Show, in defiance of her schools order regarding her speech, she deserved to get her mike cut. People like her make Christians look bad, not good.
