Kerry warns of ‘cut and run’ in Iraq (2003 Flashback)
MSNBC ^ | December 3, 2003 | Tom Curry

Posted on 06/23/2006 11:38:03 AM PDT by West Coast Conservative

In a major national security address Wednesday Democratic presidential contender John Kerry was sounding an alarm about premature U.S. withdrawal from Iraq. “I fear that in the run-up to the 2004 election the administration is considering what is tantamount to a cut-and-run strategy,” Kerry said in remarks prepared for delivery to the Council on Foreign Relations.

The Massachusetts senator accused Bush and his aides of a “sudden embrace of accelerated Iraqification and American troop withdrawal without adequate stability,” which he called “an invitation to failure.”

He contended that it would be “a disaster and a disgraceful betrayal of principle” to accelerate the transfer of authority to Iraqis so as to allow “a politically expedient withdrawal of American troops.”

Premature withdrawl was something John Kerry's father should have done.

"While he was running, he was for the war on terror with U.N. approval, but against the war in Iraq, but against the timetable of bringing them home, but didn't regret his vote authorizing force. (nuance?)"

One thing I would also add is that in the very beginning of his campaign in 04 he was for the war and supported it...It was really when he realized Dean was stealing his thunder that he flipped over to the anti war crowd and ultimately got nominated based on what the Rats felt like was their only outside chance at winning...great post by the way, I just thought I would add that.

They can't, low-bladder-capacity ALGore wants his second try first before Kerry gets his second and then Jimmah Carter wants his third before McGovern and Fritz get second trys. Then finally its Hillary's turn unless Dukakis asks for a second as well.

BUT, while he was against it before he was for it, he was for it before that. Er, I mean he was for it, before he was against it, before he was for it again. (With certain intermediate periods when he was forgainst it.) Wait, is that right? Ah, I mean it's a Flop-Flip-Flop. Or would that be a Flip-Flop-Flip? Oh, never mind, read the article. (Another flashback):

According the following Reuters report... Kerry Says June 30 Iraq Handover Date a 'Mistake' ...John Kerry told reporters on Monday: "I have always said consistently that it is a mistake to set an arbitrary date and I hope that the date has nothing to do with the election here in the United States." Well, not quite. Before the date was agreed on Kerry was not only pestering Bush to speed up the transfer of sovereignty in Iraq (to please and appease the Axis of Weasels and the U.N.) he even called for a "specific timetable" (albeit to be established by...
