Early in U.S. District Judge Jones III's appearance on WITF-TV's "Smart Talk" program Thursday night, host Nell McCormack Abom asked him about the time that's passed since his brush with York County.
"It's been a surreal experience," Jones replied.
Jones rendered a decision in the Dover Area School District's "intelligent design" case in December. He ruled that former school board members were trying to introduce religious education into a public school science curriculum under the guise of teaching an alternate scientific theory.
That decision brought him international fame and recognition of both the positive and negative variety, including a mention as one of Time magazine's 100 Most Influential People, as well as one of "2005's 10 Sexiest Geeks" according to the Web site "Wired News." Right-wing pundits have also harshly criticized Jones since the decision, including Ann Coulter in her latest book......
Jones characterized his judicial decisions as circumscribed by narrow parameters based on precedent and the law. And if that brings criticism from the "punditry," Jones said, it just comes with the job...
"They would have you believe that we take a look at our benefactors politically, or we take a look at our party affiliation," he said. "That's simply not the way judges work."........
QUOTES FROM THE SHOW.......
-On accusations that the Dover decision made an "activist judge." "People term 'activist' judges they don't agree with."..........
-On Ann Coulter, who criticizes him in her new book: "We have to suffer these arrows because people will disagree with our opinions...She foments a kind of civic stupidity in my opinion."

Bow down and worship Hugo Black: "Separation of church and state...separation of church and state....separation of church and state........"
"civic stupidity"? Does he mean the liberal ideology of replacing the Bill of Rights with 'civil rights'? Sure is interesting to watch the Darwinists croon over what Darwin wrote and yet deny he said and believed what he did.
I know, I know, it is now called 'science', man doing things his way.
And scientific stupidity is rampant! (mostly on these type of threads)...
Thanks for the reply. It allowed me to see that my reference to my tagline was miswritten as html.
If only. The Constitution was designed for a country that was not "plugged in to current events" because plugs hadn't been invented yet. We only vote every other November; the people need not be up on every cause celebre the rest of the time (nor even then). What was the benefit of the people of the panhandle of Florida being "plugged in to current events" (being wrongly informed that their vote would not affect the outcome) just before the polls closed in their portion of Florida?
This is the same guy who said in another (countless) interview that he relied on his liberal arts education and not his legal education to make his decision. What's really funny is that our Darwinists has tried to make this guy out to be another Scalia.
The case certainly was good in one aspect of it. A lot more scientists are looking at Darwin as BS. Which it is.
Well, as I am usually considered "completely useless" it's nice to "accomplish something". So, thanks...I'm already over-achieving today! ;-)
What the case was was a big looting of the taxpayers by the ACLU. Since the "theocratic" school board was voted out of office, the lawsuit against the taxpayers was not even necessary.
And he ACLU will continue to steal from the American taxpayers as long as Congress allows it.
I love that quote from Judge Jones. Ann Coulter is clueless when it comes to science and her latest book is an embarrasment.
What happens when we get our judges from the PLCB ping
The case had already been argued before the "theocratic" school board members were replaced. Closing arguments were on 11/4, elections on 11/8. You have been lied to. Wake up.
It was still necessary. Future school boards will know that there's a real cost to replacing scientific truth in their classrooms with discredited mythology.
"A lot more scientists are looking at Darwin as BS. Which it is."
Oh do explain why. Just for the general entertainment level of the board...
What's really funny is that our creationists have tried to make this guy out to be another Hitler.
More revisionist nonsense, Creationist-style, e.g., done showing a lack of integrity and in complete ignorance of the facts.
I usually don't use the ping list for threads started by creationists, but this is a real news article, and it's early in the thread, and it's a slow weekend, so I'm cranking up the ping machine ...
