Pennsylvania Senate: Casey (D) 52% Santorum (R) 37% [Why are we so indifferent to Santorum?]

Pennsylvania Senate: Casey (D) 52% Santorum (R) 37% June 26, 2006 The reelection campaign of Republican Senator Rick Santorum has been a rocky road so far, and the latest Rasmussen Reports election poll of the Pennsylvania race for U.S. Senate offers only minor comfort at best.
Now trailing Democrat Bob Casey by fifteen percentage points (52% to 37%), Santorum has gained a few points since last month. Of course, gaining a few points after lagging by twenty-three points is hardly an accomplishment for an incumbent to brag about. The overall trend remains very unhappy for Santorum: he has reached a 40% level of support just once in our last eight polls of the race. Casey has topped 50% in all but one of those polls.

I feel so upset. Santorum is a reliable conservative and he is in a blue state. Why can't freepers just stop mocking him and instead support him???
Freepers are very good at killing their conservative allies.

I like Santorum and don't understand why people bash him.

The only thing FR is interested in is illegal immigration and how to defeat good conservatives that do not follow in lock step with Tancredo.

Santorum was indifferent to conservatives in Specter's last election.
Indifference is a two-way street.

It's because Santorum endorsed Specter over Toomes. Quite unforgivable, considering we knew how bad Specter would be as head of Juduciary.

Santorum is definitely a conservative and it is a shame he may not be reelected.
The GOP is famous for eating their own. Ronald Reagan put that practice in abeyance for his tenure but it has resurfaced since his passing from the scene.

Nothing is unforgivable in politics. What matters is the comparative choices in a given election. Santorum has my support - 1000%. Unfortunaetly I do not live in his state.

Republicans right now are in an eat your own mood. I guess we've been in the majority too long and they can't remember what it was like back in the Dark Ages (before Reagan) when we had to live under really liberal Democrats, not DLC Southern Democrats, but people like Pelosi, Kennedy et al.
To: Echo Talon
I don't live in PA, so I'm not cutting off anything.
Santorum didn't elect Specter. He did support him, pretty strongly if I recall.
PA GOPers can have Ricky. I wouldn't want him if I were there.

To: waterloofan
I am upset too, but being from Pennsylvania it does not seem to me that Santorum is really interested in being reelected. Maybe he has other things to do and just doesn't want to quit. He is going to leave in January but he will be able to blame the people should he decide to run for something else some day. In my opinion, he just does not have it in his heart. Maybe he feels it is too early and will step up after the August recess. Maybe September and October he will begin. I just don't know what he is doing.
