If you notice this is a last-minute smear. It's designed so that the smeared can't fight back. It indicates that the smearer thinks that he is losing and will probably lose in the end.
I did notice. The thing is, if the indictment or conviction or whatever actually came down recently, then it would have some relevance but only if a news article put it in perspective, as in how long ago this guy was Cannon's aide or whether Cannon had made any statements about his former aide's situation. Since that is noticeably missing, I'm guessing it doesn't really have the legs the poster wanted.
It's too bad and it's why a lot of decent human beings won't let themselves and their families be dragged through the mud to hold public office. So we get the lower class politicians rather than true states(wo)men.
