Buffett the Benefactor ( Avoids Death Taxes )
The New York Sun ^ | Jun 26, 2006 | Editorial & Opinion

Mr.Buffett. As an avowed supporter of the estate tax, Mr. Buffett could have let the government take its share of his estate after he dies.

But just as Mr. Buffett has accumulated his vast wealth without paying much personal income tax, he has found a way to avoid the tax man in this maneuver as well, even writing in his letter to Bill and Melinda Gates that a condition of the gift is that the foundation “must continue to satisfy legal requirements qualifying my gifts as charitable and not subject to gift or other taxes.”

On the estate tax, watch what Mr. Buffett does, not what he says.

These elites avoid most of the income, estate... taxes but we are not so lucky.

Neither are his own children. He's putting himself above them as well as paying the tax he proclaims to believe in.

What it comes down to is Warren Buffett is all about himself, regardless of what comes out of his mouth, or what his pen signs off on.

"Render unto Caesar", dude. Jesus' paternal inlaws were skilled tradesmen, humbly plying their wares.

No one hassled them for Estate Tribute. Even then.

Get used to it.

I'm not sorry I've got stronger Conservative beliefs than you. You want to defend elitist scumbags that endorse higher taxes, I'm here defending "the average guy" like you and I.

Just a small thing about the "extra" cash that estates capitalize.

You've missed little, and, I admit, I have an axe to grind against Warren Buffett/BH schilling for the criminal Estate Tax while harmlessly transferring billions to Bill Gates.

The most galling thing about the spectacle is they did it right in front of our very eyes on TV.

Inevitable, because it always, abstractly, applies to "someone else". 14th Amendment comes to mind.

Rich liberals want to tax you happily... but when it comes to their OWN money, its off limits to a government grab. Warren Buffett may be all for the death tax as long as it grabs another fellow's estate. But he won't give 55% of his fortune to the government.

Let's make a Freeper Time Capsule, so to speak: let's see what is actually accomplished, say, a year from now.

Surely with MS and BH excess cash, the B & MG Foundation can cure cancer, the slowing of earth rotation, global warming, and Western halitosis.

You are just defending selfishness, not me !!

A rich man giving to others is not a scum bag, I will pray that some day you see that giving to others is a noble deed.

He is supporting higher taxes on himself, NOT YOU!! So that others like himself instead support private charities before they die not the BIG GOVT tax handouts. It was Prez Bush's early programs to support private vs govt money to help people.

This is a MORE conservative (Christian) to promote private charity than it is to have Billioniare King's & Prince's with totally untaxed (0%) wealth while I pay 25%+ Federal & 7% Social for every dollar I earn.
