They probably acknowledged that a target is a recognized entity. Most likely a Trojan Horse move, especially if you pay attention to their boasts/threats of WMD over the last few days.

Nothing of the sort. Israel doesn't need their recognition. It would better if the Palestinians gave up terrorism. Words are cheap and meaningless and the only real political currency of importance is in deeds. The Palestinians' plan contains no concrete moves to demonstrate they are going to give up their war against Israel. As Americans would say, "its all talk, no action." Or as one of their presidential candidates once memorably asked, "where's the beef?" The Palestinian would have give up their death squads, stop teaching their children to hate Israel and Jews, stop committing acts of mass murderer and build a productive life for themselves. There's no there there in this plan and only a fool would believe they are sincere. In a word, watch not what they say but rather watch what they do.

Yep. Its all PR. After all, let's not forget Hitler recognized Poland and Czechoslovakia too before he swallowed up those countries. And then the North Vietnamese made similar pledges about South Vietnam. A country can promise to the moon but the only thing that matters in life is its actions. A nation's word only goes so far and can easily be broken if its interests are advanced by doing so.

Does this implicit recognition of Israel go with their explicit plans to destroy Israel?

I belong to another message board. According to a poster there, a Hamas lawmaker said in Reuters that this does not mean Hamas will recognize Israel`s right to exist. They did`nt post a link to the article, though.

For once al-Reuters has published the truth:

Hamas sticks to hard line despite deal with Abbas

By Nidal al-Mughrabi Tue Jun 27, 11:50 AM ET

GAZA (Reuters) - The governing Hamas movement reached a political agreement on Tuesday with moderate Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas but rejected any suggestion that the deal could imply recognition of Israel.

Exactly. It's so they'll recognize what hit 'em?
