Ailes 'Fuming' at Fox News Channel
Fox News Chairman Roger Ailes is reportedly "on the warpath about his networks recent ratings slide and has given notice to staffers that hes willing to clean house, according to a report in Broadcasting & Cable.
The cable news channels overall prime-time ratings are off 8 percent in the second quarter of this year, and down 22 percent in viewers ages 25 to 54. The first quarter was also disappointing.
Rival CNN is also down, but only 2 percent overall in the second quarter and 18 percent in the 25-54 age group.
Ailes is said to be "fuming over what he views as complacency among staffers, according to B&C.
He feels production values are slipping and bookers arent aggressive enough, relying too heavily on the same faces.
A full-page "Now Hiring ad that ran recently in a trade magazine asked, "Can you make the cut?
Broadcasting & Cable reports that a Fox staffer said the question was not addressed to outside applicants. "That was aimed inside.
An Ailes spokesman declared: "Anyone who displays launch-type intensity will continue to have a job at Fox News. Those who dont will not. And that includes talent.
Hey Roger! Stop hiring CNN's cast-offs and your ratings will go back up!
I have a few recommendations for the chopping block... There are some folks on FNC that cause me to change channels the minute I hear their voice.
There has been a partial liberal bias creeping into FoxNews. Hence the ratings slide!
Still a million times better than CNN.
the ratings will go back up b4 the election(also known as the day the demRATS go do again).
I might watch weekends more if they can metrosexual Julian.
And going back to real news broadcasting instead of tabloid trash like Greta Van Susteren's show would be a good start.
Neal Gabler needs to go. And they need to stop being SO "fair and balanced". It's rare to see Ann Coulter alone, without having some liberal bubblehead to balance it.
A couple hints: Get rid of Greta, drop endless Natalie Hollaway coverage and other police blotter stories, and hire appealing conservative hosts like Glen Beck and maybe even Dennis Miller to spice things up a little. And for the love of god get rid of Juan Williams.
Here's a couple of hints:
1) Every news item does not have to be a "Fox News Alert"
2) Enough with the car chases
I'm not sure Ailes himself fully understands who brung him to the dance.
Hey Roger, stop moving to the left..
Moved too far to left.
How about less courtroom/murder drama (duke/domestics) during prime time and more hard news...
By the time I sit down to watch TV, Fox News is always doing that Natalie Holloway story or some other missing person story that they drive into the ground. It's boring!
"There are some folks on FNC that cause me to change channels the minute I hear their voice."
For me, that's Greta, E.D. and Sheppard.
I'm tired of the breathless hype over the weather. They've got Hannity & Colmes covering the weather. I wish they'd keep the weather on the news shows and in the updates. I feel like I'm watching the weather channel sometimes.
Neal Gabler has turned what was once a decent show into a rush for the remote.
Although she makes such asses of them it's fun to watch, esp. when she was on H&C with that Jersey state legislature Nazi. She made a complete blithering idiot of that dope, or more so than he already is.
They need to find some more dogs trapped on ice.
Why do Shepard Smith and Bill-O (not to mention Gretter) come to my mind?
Stop trying to out CNN CNN, dammit.
Fox is still better than the other two news channels but.....ugh lately they suck too! I can barely stand to watch them anymore. All the talking heads make me ill and their guests almost all suck.
Besides that, it is the same drivel over and over and over....all day, every day.
They definitely need to get rid of a few people and "freshen up".
The list of annoying Fox personalities is quite long. If they're all sacked, will there be anyone left to read the news?

FNC HAS moved too far left. Look, you guys, you are never gonna get the approval of the liberals and MSM, so don't try. Go back to what you were doing.
Mr. Ailes:
Less tabolid, more IN DEPTH news..
Julian on F & F weekends...show him the door.
As with most media in NY, the temptation to impress each other, instead of serving middle America, becomes paramount.
Uh....Roger Ailes should read Free Republic. Is Greta at Patsy Ramsey's funeral this week?
Brit Hume and Brian Wilson. They can do it in 12-hour shifts.
Orreilly is their biggest ratings draw.
As with most media in NY, the temptation to impress each other, instead of serving middle America, becomes paramount.
Fox thinks he's their answer to Anderson Cooper, as if that empty suit requires a counter-punch from Fox.
Yes, Roger dump the tabloid trash and keep hitting the issues that make sense. Illegal immigrant invaders stories and how it is destroying this country.
Shep brings in the gay demographic.
That is all.............
Clift, Clark, Novak, Mudd to name a few should be omitted.
More Molly...... More Molly.... More molly, that's the ticket
I suspect we would nominate the same ones--some of whom, it might be added, are CNN castoffs. But Geraldo is another, as is Shep Smith and some of the morning newsettes.
Another suggestion for Ailes: enough with the missing blonde stories (Natalee is but one), and do real news.
I rarely watch TV.
When I want TV news, I first turn to Fox News ... then discover (again) that most of the time it's not news, it's talking heads, so I turn to CNN or Headline News.
Kinda like MTV not showing much music anymore - no wonder I don't watch it.
All that is needed is a full blown conservative network & FOX would be in the toilet like the rest. (This always brings up the question of why there isn't one)
OK - that's one of the names on my "list".
Get back to the conservative coverage that made you #1 in the first place!
get rid of GUILFOYLE for starters!
Add Neil Cavuto and David Asman: six hour shifts. ;O)
Ditto...more heavies like Hume, Cavuto and Gibson...lose the 'flavor of the week' crime crap.
My thoughts exactly! That's why I have dropped several FOX shows from viewing pleasure.
Wake up call, Roger!
Plus, no one....no one! watches on the weekends cause we can't stand Julien!!!....He needs to go bigtime!
