Cannon Defeats Jacob in Utah GOP Primary

NEW TODAY: Cannon Defeats Jacob LEHI - In Tuesday's Republican primary, incumbency overcame the anti-immigration wave. Five-term Congressman Chris Cannon had a commanding lead over political newcomer John Jacob with more than 85 percent of the precincts reporting. Cannon had collected 56 percent of the vote to Jacob's 44, with outstanding vote counts primarily in Salt Lake and Utah counties. But by 11:05 p.m. Jacob had already seen enough. He called Cannon to concede.

If news stories about the Senate wanting to go with border enforcement are true, Cannon might decide to go with this new hegemony of agreement with other House Pubs. We shall see.

Right, other than that one issue--- which he is terrible on--- Cannon is very conservative, as his ACU rating shows.

For that reason, I don't think too many conclusions can be drawn about the outcome of this race. Primary voters had many reasons to vote for him--- his position on taxes, abortion, etc.
