Raising taxes when you can somewhat plausibly dupe people into believing that it's needed is one thing, but when you're swimming in tax revenue the way we are now, it's pretty much impossible to trick the people yet again.

Even some of FR's biggest phony Republicans like cogitator don't bother anymore trying to pull that garbage on these threads the way he used to.

I-81 is often described as one of the top eight truck routes in the country. Trucking now accounts for an estimated 20%-40% of all traffic for a highway originally designed for 15% truck traffic.

Taking a trip on I-81 is a nightmare, with packs of tractor-trailers clogging the 4 lane roadway. It's in desperate need of attention.

At leasst that traffic is moving at at least posted speeds. Try driving the nive 4 lane roads like route 7 in the morning/eavening. Good luck averaging 10 MPH

Part of the reason it's a nightmare is because 95 is at a standstill so they don't bother trying. I81 is easier to travel so although we live on 95 we go out west (81) to go North, even into New England.

Corin notwithstanding I utterly agree with you after living in the Commonwealth for over 52 years. It was virtually always thus.

>Part of the reason it's a nightmare is because 95 is at a standstill so they don't bother trying.<

Weekend before last, we had to go up 95 to get to my newphew's wedding. We got up above NYC, into Connecticut, and were going along in the center lane. All 3 lanes were pretty packed.

We noticed a ratty looking truck with 2 porta-potties on the back. They were bouncing around, and Mr Darnright remarked, "look at those things". Just as he did, one of the blasted things FELL off the truck. As it hit the pavement, the OTHER one went!

The 1st one luckily landed in the shoulder, and the 2nd, still tethered to the truck, was dragged in a straight line in the righthand lane. We slowed down as quickly as the tailgaiter behind us would allow, and as soon as possible, got past the killer outhouses.

I HATE I-95!!!
