I don't know where you got these statements but if the swords were not "literal", why then in Luke 22:38, when they said, "Lord, behold, here are two swords." (they showed him literal swords) He said, "It is enough". I believe your point of view is wrong. The swords are literal, so you need not write or quote a lot of stuff that is not in the Bible, but only of your transliteration.
Um, it's not 'my' transliteration but that of the commetary found on Biblegateway. Now if you want to argue with John Wesley, John Darby, Matthew Henry, and John Gill, and Charles Spurgeon, then fine be my guest....Of course all these men were wrong. They have to be. To argue the nationalistic view that Jesus Christ is on 'our' side and He would want war, all these great men of God just have to be wrong....
