What kind of monster would enroll a 5-month old in day care?

I see nothing wrong with day care. What I find upsetting is how how a mother "forgets" about a baby in the car. Funny how this always happens in the summer.

She is not a monster for enrolling a 5 month old in day care. Some people do not have the affluence to take months off of work to care for a small one. Accidents and tragedies happen. Please have a little sympathy for this mother.

I am in the same boat as you, no children, however, I just cannot understand how someone drops off their helpless 5 month old to strangers.

All I know is that I would NEVER leave my dog with a stranger nor would I ever forget that my dog was in the car.

Beeler, Before I got married and became a stay at home mom I had to work part time as a single mother and put my son in a home day care. It wasn't what I wanted at the time, but I don't consider myself to have been a monster.

The monster is the mother who obviously has to much on her plate to think about her kids or them being a priority to her that she leaves them to die a horrible death in the car all day.

A woman who has to work for a living? Not everyone can afford to be a stay at home mom.

A monster like me, I guess. My 3-month old goes to a day care once a week, and will go three times weekly this fall.

"What kind of monster would enroll a 5-month old in day care?"

One whose husband left her and her child and has to eat?

"What kind of monster would enroll a 5-month old in day care?"

How about someone who has to put food on the table, clothes on the children and a roof over their heads? Not everyone can afford to stay home or hire a nanny.

The same ones who have no problem sucking a childs brains out while he is still in the womb. Kids are killed everyday, but much worse than this, and on purpose. It`s curious how a 5 month difference gets attention... Even a minutes difference gets attention. Out of the womb is murder, but a minute before it was "pro choice".

"This is what a feminist looks like"... Yeah Ashlee..How about "This is what nepotism looks like"?

I wouldn't use the term "monster", but most people who put their kids in day care just don't feel that raising their own children is an important priority. Sure, there is the occasional widow, or woman who was left holding the bag by an irresponsible husband, but almost without exception the parents who outsource their parental responsibilities to strangers are those whose priorities are themselves, their material possessions, and their social life. Their children are merely accessories to their lifestyles.

For those who would "understand" how a "mother" could forget a child in her vehicle, Mrs. Chandler posits the question: would she have forgotten a briefcase full of cash in the back seat?

This kind- the kind who had to chose between serving her country- and oh btw you too- or staying at home with the baby. I chose a reputable caregiver.

Monster indeed. How's life in that glass house nirvana of yours?

Maybe someone who's not taking the welfare payments you'll bitch about on another thread.

A single mother. That's not the problem (even if it does seem a little callous). The problem is that the stupid idiot left a baby to roast alive in a car.

String her up.

I think "monster" is a bit harsh, but I agree that no child that young should be in daycare. The mother should at least spend the first year at home with the child, but if she can't afford to and must work then she should leave the child with a relative. OK, sure I'm a man, and "I just wouldn't know" how important it is for a woman to have a career or to be able to afford some of the better things in life, but I am just naive enough to believe that if you're going to bring a child into this world you should be willing to sacrifice some of your lifestyle for that child. At least during the formative years. And if you're not, keep your legs together.

I'm sorry, but stories like this just piss me off!

Maybe a woman who found herself pregnant, decided against abortion and is juggling more than she can handle. Stupid, unlucky, yep but a monster? That's kind of arrogant.
