FAMILY
National renewal starts with the family. Family is where each new generation gains its moral anchor. It is the school of citizenship, the engine of economic progress, and a permanent haven during societal change. As Republicans, we believe the home should remain the central place for individual decision-making and issues impacting the family should not be handed over to intrusive government bureaucrats.
Recognizing the family as the foundation of our society, and that parents are most capable of making decisions for and about their children, the CRP opposes any effort to weaken parents' freedom of decision and choice, as well as any abridgment of parental rights by the state.
We recognize that the two-parent family provides the best environment of stability, discipline, charity and responsibility. We commend and support those single parents who struggle to maintain stable homes for their families. We resist the efforts of the liberals in the Democrat Party to redefine the traditional family. We offer the Republican Party as an option to all who are concerned about the deterioration of the American family.
Recognizing the traditional model of monogamous heterosexual marriage as the only stable relationship upon which to build a society, we believe that homosexuality should not be presented as an acceptable "alternative" lifestyle in public education and policy. We oppose granting to homosexuals special privileges, including marriage, domestic partnership benefits, and child custody or adoption.
