I don't see anything wrong with having a 'salute to L.A.' day, but why put it on the fourth, unless this was indeed a deliberate attempt to smear and denigrate the real meaning of the fourth of July (which I wouldn't put past them.)

I have no problem with the concept of a Salute to Los Angeles day. Just pick a day that has some actual meaning to the City of Los Angeles, such on the day when it was incorporated, or founded, or something like that.

Besides, the mayor (or "mejor") is such a Mexican Nationalist.
