Then why are so many here? Why every time I turn around someone is speaking in a strange English that I do not understand? Are the idiots still there who have NO rights to defend themselves or whose crime rate is going up and up or most of the Islamic radicals that live there the ones who think we are the bad boys of the world? If so they should move their butts to north Africa or Iran, or some other place that is more in keeping with their National Socialist thinking.

They could be forgiven for their beliefs if all they read is the lefty press, watch/listen to the BBC let alone indoctrination in today's schools.
Happily, some think the US is doing quite
well, thank you.

"The core problem is with America's relations with the rest of the world. Fully 69 percent of Britons say their overall opinion of the United States has worsened in recent years."
Fully 70% of real Americans could care less what some third world country thinks. And we have come to have great feelings of aversion for most of the rest of the world.

The MSM really has brainwashed a lot of Freepers with their continual lies.
If those who are stupid enough to believe the crap the lying MSM tells them then I guess some here aren't as smart as I've given them credit for in the past.

I guess they came to this conclusion upon the arrival of Madonna.

A steady stream of negative reporting by the US media about the Bush administration influenced international opinions.
On top of what the N.Y.T does, there is the International Herald Tribune also owned by the N.Y.T.
Europeans are even less informed about G.W's economic successes and if one mentions a 4.6% unemployment rate in the US such causes utter disbelief amongst those 10% sufferers.
Six years of U.S.anti Bush exposures in the national and international media shows signs of results.
This explains a disparity between personally liking Americans but sheer hate of the country.
It's seeded by the U.S. media, grown, and exported.

They've been watching Hollywood movies and CNN.
What the hell are they supposed to think?

It's OK, many of us view Euro-twit socialist crapweasels as a "negative influence" in the world, so we're about even. Only problem is the relentless dishonesty and hostility of the media-twits in the BBC, London papers, etc. truly is damaging trans-Atlantic relations and really does weaken the war on terror. If only all the crapweasels would worry a bit less about the USA and a lot more about finding and killing terrorists.

Probably so! A fine tribute indeed in honor of our independence. So our former occupiers (to use a presently fashionable word) don't think too much of us, boo hoo! I can only imagine what we'd be like today if we had stayed in the empire. Hopefully more like Australia than, say, Canada or South Africa.

True. It would make the Dark Ages after the fall of the Roman Empire look like an age of enlightenment.

May I suggest a place the Brits can stash their US popularity polls?

The England of the old BBC comedies is disappearing around them as they are outbred and over immigrated, and they are so drunk on Tolerance that they haven't noticed yet. "English values" are being diluted, and fifteen years ago was too late to do anything about it. We saved them from speaking German, and they can't save themselves from speaking Farsi.

I have never understood this "I like Americans, but I hate America." Is that as phony as "I hate the war, but support the troops?"

The core problem is with America's relations with the rest of the world. Fully 69 percent of Britons say their overall opinion of the United States has worsened in recent years.
Nearly 95% of the 3% of Americans who heard that the Portuguese beat the Brits in the soccer tourney laughed at the losing lager louts. The remaining 5% was disappointed that the German police won't have the Brits around to practice their riot control tactics on.

Don't the Brits still owe us hundreds of millions of $$ from WWII lend-lease? - time we started collecting (or they started recalling the times we saved their a$$es during the 1900's)......

Thank God almighty I live in America, I can't imagine living in a country where 69% want Saddam and Sons back.
What an immoral bunch of prigs.

"Talk to the common person on the street and they give a complete different opinion to what the MSM reports to us. Of course just like here in the US, there are many radicals and unfortunately they're the ones who get the publicity."
Thank you for stating this. I travel to England frequently, and have a much better opinion of Brits than has been mentioned here. Of course, most Americans have never been there : )
