She lost the support as soon as she opened her pie hole about the poor Palestinians and their plight, her opposition to the war in Afghanistan etc..... The more she opened her mouth, the more the press got bored with crazy wench. The public opinion wasn't there from the beginning, but that has never stopped the MSM before.
