Can you use your telepathic powers to determine why she is a single mom? My wife's first hubby walked out because he didn't care to be a dad anymore (his loss my gain, 2 great kids). My mom was a single mom 'cuz dad died of leukemia (I was 5).

Not all single moms are single moms by choice.

"Not all single moms are single moms by choice. "

That's something that's frequently forgotten here, I'm afraid. It sounds to me like this kid is a born psychopath. He's going to either end up institutionalized his entire life or dead.

I'd be willing to bet on it.

Thanks for pointing that out. And there are times when being single is better than staying with the wrong man.

Good points. And even the ones that are single moms because of bad choices, the majority don't raise psychopaths.

The interesting point of this story is that the mother seems to have another son who is completely normal. Same environment, different outcome. Some of it must be luck of the draw in genetics.

My guess is the boy already eliminated the dad and made it look like an accident.

As a productive, law-abiding citizen with a familiy of my own who just happened to grow up in a single-parent home, I've given up explaining that to these ninnies. Children who grow up in single-parent homes commit crimes because they make crappy choices. Period.

The social and behavioral issues that not having a father in the home is the subject of another thread, so I'll not go into that here except to say that they don't involve criminal behavior.

Here Here!! Lots of judgemental types on this here Freeper Board. My ex decided he didn't 'want to be tied down to a family', after having two kids of course. But my husband is a great dad to them and now the one we have together. Of course there was time I was a single mom, and it certainly wasn't because I was a floozy having illegitimate babies.

I do not believe this (or any) "broken-family" explanation for behavior is aimed indiscriminately at the mom. I believe that single parenting is the cause for many of the problems in our society, but I do not blame moms exclusively for the problem. Blame for single motherhood can lie (on a case by case basis) with mom, dad, both, in-laws, society*, etc.

* Society at one point in time frowned on divorce and this pressure prevented many couples from getting divorced. Society is more accepting now and enables more divorces (as well as out of marriage "families".)
