You don't fly a lot do you?
Actually, I do. And I upgrade to first class all the time. I also pay for it myself.
But it bothered me when I heard about Keyes refusing to fly coach. He had come to a local pro-life function to raise money for an adoption group. He gave a speech and raised some, not a lot, of money at this event. However, after his expenses (hotel, first class flight, incidentals), what the organization was left with was embarrassing.
It all just hit me: There was nothing noble or humbling about this man. Why not fly coach, and stay in a Marriott Courtyard near the airport? Why not give those thousands of dollars in expenses (in less than a 24 hr. period) to the cause?
He and his wife should be able to fly whatever class they choose, but they should pay for it. It is said that Keyes refuses to take money for speeches. It would be better for the organization that sponsors him if he did. More money would actually go to the cause he promotes so fiercely.
