Looks like the usual Defartment of state shuck and jive, right on schedule.

Sabramerican, for your pool, I'd say DOS will publicly use the word "restraint" long before Saturday; I'd say 85% likely within the next 36 hours, so say Thursday evening. Mid-day Friday tops. If I'm wrong, may Hillary have to say something nice in public about Tom Tancredo!

Some here are getting excited about this nothing statement from the Administration.

Imagine if Britain was attacked, or even France. Or just remember what occurred when Kuwait was attacked.

The President would be in the Rose Garden making an unequivocal statement in support of a friend and ally. Siding 100% with that friend and wishing them luck in whatever they must do. Giving their, and our enemies, clear notice and warning.

But I guess not from Israel's Best Friend Ever. Nevertheless I will check today's Bush's day in picture thread to see if he was busy doing something else that was of vital importance.

You win. I lose.

Rice has already called for Restraint from ALL sides

Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said the Hezbollah action went against the interest of the Lebanese people, and that Syria has a "special responsibility" to resolve the crisis. "All sides must act with restraint to resolve this incident peacefully and to protect innocent life and civilian infrastructure," she said ahead of meetings in Paris.
