“Jesus never said one word about homosexuality, never said one word about civil marriage or abortion,” said Dr. Edgar to CBS News at a recent gathering of liberal Christian leaders in Washington.

Never said one word about ending the war in Iraq, either, but that doesn't seem to be stopping you from speaking for His intentions.

He can save that for the judgement... I would love to see how that goes over with the almighty.

"But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty.

For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power.

Avoid such people."

Jesus said he did not come to judge people but that he did come to save them .... or to prepare them for their alternative, which is God's judgement.

And the Bible shows that God has said quite a bit about sodomy, and the sanctity of pre born life..

I think He said something about not having come to condemn the scriptures (Old Testament) but to fulfill them.

The Lord was QUITE clear about what He thought of sexual perversions, especially homosexuality in the Old Testament.

They brought up this argument when the Episcopalians were about to ordain Eugene Robinson as bishop. Problem is, no one ever noted that Jesus had indeed spoken very forcefully against divorce (3 times in Matthew alone)--and Robinson had divorced his wife to live with his new partner.

National Council of Churches Pres.: Jesus Never said Anything About Homosexuality or Abortion

Didn't have to.

His Dad wrote the definitive lesson on that subject.

I'm not a Christian, but I do have a question. Which old laws not longer applied after Christ and which ones still do? Any resources on this? I've always been curious about this aspect of Christianity.

The next thing we'll hear liberals announce is Jesus said nothing about God either.

(The Palestinian terrorist regime is the crisis and Israel's fist is the answer.)

The Supreme Soviet of the former Soviet Union was to the right of this bunch.

If those NCC people are Christians, then I'm a Martian.

This sort of dishonesty is typical.

First, no one can say definitely that Jesus never spoke on a specific topic, they can only say that no record of such an utterance exists.

Second, in the New Testament Jesus insisted on standards of sexual behavior that preclude homosexuality and which he specifically characterizes as more stringent than the behavioral requirements of the Torah - and we know exactly what the Torah has to say about homosexuality.

Third, Jesus specifically declares in the New Testament that marriage is between one man and woman.

Fourth, Jesus specifically enjoins treatment of children that precludes abortion.

Fifth, the New Testament makes the illicitness of sodomy and the nature of marriage quite explicit.

Oh agreed. And they shame the gospel.
I have been looking throughout the NT and cannot find where Jesus talks about global warming or eliminating poverty or same sex marriage. Perhaps it is in code. Was the Sermon on the Mount really about post modern western secular morals and values? No doubt. That must be it.
