Democrats Favored On Most Issues; Bush Approval Down (FOX poll)
FOX News ^ | 7/13/2006 | Dana Blanton

Less than four months before Election Day, the latest FOX News Poll finds that voters strongly favor the Democrats on key issues such as the economy and gas prices, and give the minority party a double-digit lead for control of Congress this fall. For most of President Bush’s second term in office, more Americans have said they disapprove than approve of his job performance and that is again the case in this new poll.

The president’s approval rating dropped to 36 percent, down from 41 percent approval two weeks ago and 40 percent in mid-June. Bush lost ground this week among some key constituent groups, such as Republicans, whites and men. Overall, 53 percent of Americans say they disapprove.

"It is important to remember that the president got his bounce after the killing of al-Zarqawi in Iraq," comments Opinion Dynamics Chairman John Gorman. "While administration officials were careful not to overplay the significance of this, it naturally created hope that things would get better. Several weeks of bloody footage from Iraq have pretty much dashed those hopes."

Despite the negative views on the job he’s doing, Americans believe President Bush has had a tough job assignment. A 61 percent majority — including 48 percent of Democrats, 62 percent of independents and 75 percent of Republicans — thinks Bush has had to face a larger number of difficult situations than most presidents deal with during their terms in office.

Americans think the most important issues facing the country today are Iraq (21 percent), the economy (11 percent) and health care (10 percent). On each of these, Democrats are seen as the party that can do a better job —

Upset about gas prices, so favor the kooks who want to tax it more? Right.

Libs & rats can win all the media polls they want. Conservatives win the ones that count - elections.

Democrats don't really have positions on issues. Instead they have feel-good platitudes.

Bingo! This one line tells all - the MSM continues to focus on blood and death rather than on the continuing bettering situation.

G-d save us from The Left...

Exactly. The Democrat position on all issues is: "Bush is bad -- we can do better."

That's not much of a plan.

Yes the Dems suck, but 3 bucks a gallon gas will kill the Repubs. Right or not, someone in DC is gonna pay for the average Joe getting f***ed at the pump. Bush isn't on the ballot but his party is. Add to that the feckless, directionless GOP-controlled Senate (and House) and all the Dems have to do is keep their yaps shut (no small feat for them) and let the public have their rebellion.

FOX News has been turning more and more liberal just like the rest. I'm to a point with them that I can't stand any of their shows.

Riiiight...

I figure its an eeeevil Fox News trick, since the election has already been rigged by the Bush cabal and all, to rub liberals noses in it early.

If you will notice for the last several months Fox has eliminated the important political poll questions from its web page! They are simply asking stupid financial or inconsequential questions as opposed to those questions which might make Bush or his administration look good.Bush questions before always got excellent results.

I stopped reading Fox News when they ran a story titled 'UN to Let US Keep Control of Internet'. Sorry, the UN doesn't let or not let us do anything.

Don't look now but a shitty economy is right around the corner. With record energy prices, earnings worries etc, interest rates.

Repubs are going to have to roll up the sleeves during this election cycle.

Warning: THis is only my humble opinion. Please no flaming.

LOL, it matters not, most Americans are idiots.

Let them elect Dems, and things will be peachy because the MSM and Hollywood will tell them so.

It will be fun to watch the difference the so-called news coverage.

Which Dems? What positions? A tabloid poll, conducted for the headline, IMO.

I can't believe these polls are correct.

First, it is summer, bad time for polling, people's attention is elsewhere.

Having said that, many of us are more than a little frustrated and perplexed by the admin.'s seeming aimlessness this year. Securing our borders should be near the top of the priority list, but Bush seems to use the issue in the most Clintonesque-way possible. Whose favor is he trying to win by these ad-hoc measures? Guest workers? Rotating the Nat'l Guard?

Trumpetting a $300B deficit (which is a fake number) as an "achievement" is an embarrassment. With a Repub WH, Congress, Senate and SC we can't rein in the growth of government? If not NOW, when????
