The regional war began in the 7th Century when Europe didn't wipe out Islam when it should have.

The Crusades were great, but didn't finish the job.

I blame the King of France (the fair) for not allowing the Knights Templar to re-equip and for pushing the Pope into betraying the Knghts.

Europe could have wiped out anyone in the 7th century. It could not even prevent the Nutballs from taking and holding Spain for centuries. The only powers capable of fighting them were Byzantium and the Persians both of which proved to be failures.

In the 7th Century, the biggest issue in Europe was finding a cure for headlice.
No doubt you've forgotten how widespread illiteracy had become after 200 years of the deepest, nastiest most destructive Dark Age since the end of the Ice Age.
The Eastern Roman Empire was first on its feet economically. That's when Islam came around, and managed to kick the Persians out of the Levant and North Africa. Nobody complained about that.
Best to review the entirity of history ~ Europe was in dire straits for most of a thousand years once the Dark Ages began circa 538 AD.

The regional war began in the 7th Century when Europe didn't wipe out Islam when it should have. Roger that. The Carthaginians haven't given Rome much trouble over the past 2,000 years.

instead of attacking fellow Christians in Constantinople, they should have teamed up to eradicate islam (not genocide, but destruction of the religion).

So this is our fault?
Take it further back - all this is because they eat that forbidden fruit! That was probably in Iraq/Iran. They've always been a problem see!
