Columnist Robert Novak has revealed how he learned about Valerie Plame's identity, which begs the question: Should a man go to prison for "obstructing" an investigation into a crime that was not committed? Exactly one year ago today, July 14, 2005, we wrote about the Plame kerfuffle, speculating on the origins of the "revelation" in Novak's July 14, 2003, column that Bush critic Joe Wilson's wife, Valerie Plame, was a CIA employee.

Yes, it was published that Wilson married Plame. It was not published that Wilson married a covert CIA operative.
She is not a covert agent.

...and people who insist she was a "covert CIA operative" at the time of her "outing" miss the point even more. No crime was committed, get it?! And utilizing Goebbels rule of repeating a lie until it's believed as fact doesn't change the reality that there's no there there.
As usual the liberals overplayed their hand and, even then, got little for it. One day you guys may learn...but I doubt it. Stupidity has a way of reinventing itself...as you prove time and time again.
Did you all see this?

WASHINGTON Former Ambassador Joseph Wilson released the following statement today in response to the media coverage of the latest, and long delayed, revelations from columnist Robert Novak, who first leaked the fact that Wilson's wife, Valerie Plame Wilson, worked for the CIA.
"Robert Novak, some other commentators and the Administration continue to try to completely distort the role that Valerie Wilson played with respect to Ambassador Wilson's trip to Niger. The facts are beyond dispute.
"The Office of the Vice President requested that the CIA investigate reports of alleged uranium purchases by Iraq from Niger. The CIA setup a meeting to respond to the Vice President's inquiry. Another CIA official, not Valerie Wilson, suggested to Valerie Wilson's supervisor that the Ambassador attend that meeting. That other CIA official made the recommendation because that official was familiar with the Ambassador's vast experience in Niger and knew of a previous trip to Africa concerning uranium matters that had been undertaken by the Ambassador on behalf of the CIA in 1999.
"Valerie Wilson's supervisor subsequently asked her to relay a request from him to the Ambassador that he would like the Ambassador to attend the meeting at the CIA. Valerie Wilson did not participate in the meeting."

***Look at the time; I told you we'd hear from him today...he issued that LAST NIGHT!
BTW...if you're not a liberal, fine. Stop repeating their talking points.
He's still lying, I see.
The Senate Bipartisan Committee, chaired by Sen. Roberts, said quite clearly that they either had the minutes of a meeting or verbal testimony of those at the meeting that Valerie Plame suggested her husband be sent to Niger.
As a result of Novak's revelations, even that doesn't matter.
Novak has revealed that the person who gave her away did so inadvertently. To violate the act there has to exist an intent to deliberately reveal a covert agent's identity. Furthermore, we now know that Fitzgerald knew ALL of Novak's sources. Since Fitzgerald had a waiver from ALL of Novak's sources, and since none of them were ever charged with any crime, we must conclude that Fitzgerald himself knew that the Identities Act was not violated.
Manifestly then, Fitzgerald has been on a witch hunt since the very beginning. He needs to apologize, resign, and be barred from ever holding a position of trust in the government of the United States again.
#1. Novak said quite clearly today that no one he talked with said Valerie's name. They called her Joe Wilson's wife. So he looked in Who's Who to see who his wife was. If she's so covert, it certainly wasn't smart listing his wife's name.
#2. Novak called the CIA spokesman who could not confirm that she was EVER covert. Because she wasn't.
#3. Andrea Mitchell on MSNBC one day said that "we all knew Joe was married to a woman who worked in the CIA in a sensitive area". There was even a thread about it on FR.
#4. There are numerous articles around FR that it was well known in DC circles that Joe BRAGGED about his wife working in the CIA. Two people wrote articles that Wilson personally told them about his wife, long before this all became an issue.
Though .. this was already investigated and he is lying
I liked the timing. Again Joe's too clever by half.
Fitz was appointed 12/30/03. By 1/12/04 he knew who Novak's primary source was. It was probably learned in the FBI interviews that preceded his appointment. The President ordered everyone to cooperate, and they probably did, including Armitage, the most likely suspect. Libby had been interviewed twice by the FBI by 1/12/04, but had not appeared before a grand jury. It seems overwhelming that Fitz knew there was no underlying crime by 1/12/04.
Fitz needs to explain himself.
Yes.
Even you and me.
Hell, probably ESPECIALLY you and me..........LOL.
I don't want this to "go away."
I want them to pulverize him now.
I'm so glad to have that report; added to my links.
