Peretz says Israel intends to 'break' Hizbullah

Defense Minister Amir Peretz said Thursday night that, "We expected Hizbullah to break the rules, and now we intend to break them.

"We do not mean for this event to end when the situation returns to how things were a few days ago," he said.

Peretz's comments came before his meeting with Assistant Secretary of State David Welch.

Yep, I don't really see this stopping at Lebanon's border with Syria. That'll only happen if Lebanon's gov't puts its foot down and kicks Hizbullah out, which I don't believe they have the ability to pull off.

But maybe with Israel's assistance...

With the media bias as well as the bias here in the USA towards Israel, I doubt that any of the public know what is really going on.

These people have literally been fighting each other for THOUSANDS of years. Any involvement by us is a no win situation. We should stay out of this and let them kill each other off. There will never be peace in that region until one side or the other is completely wiped out.

I think Iran and Syria must have given Hizbullah certain assurances to get them to act. I would guess they are going to send terrorist reinforcements and other aid. I wonder if they're stupid enough to try an arial attack on Israel. Their grasp of reality seems pretty tenuous.

I have yet to see one constructive thing posted that we could do that would actually do any good. I have spent time in the Middle East both in Israel and Arab states, and have seen that this is a religious war and neither side will ever be satisfied until they eliminate the other. We can threaten and/or bribe both sides for a temporary solution of sorts, but that does not resolve the basic issues between them. Let them kill each other over there all they want. Our meddling in their fight is what brought us 911.

Nonsense. Israelis would happily accept peaceful co-existence with Muslims and any Muslim country if their security could be assured. It's the Muslims that want to commit genocide on Jews.

It's a religious war or more accurately a war of hatred and aggression only from the Muslim side. From the Jewish/Israeli side it is a war of survival, plain and simple.

The Jews are more than willing to tolerate Islam. It is the Islamics who will not tolerate Jews. In the view of Islamics the Prophet conquered the Jews and eclipsed Judaism. With the rise of Israel all that was undone. Much of Islam has murder in their hearts not only against Israel, but also the West. That is why they must die.
