Western Incentives For Iran Revealed

Include Possibility Of Nuclear Research Reactors

(AP) UNITED NATIONS The world powers are prepared to provide Iran with advanced technology and possibly even nuclear research reactors if it agrees to suspend uranium enrichment under a package of incentives revealed in full for the first time Thursday.

The package -- put together by the United States, Russia, China, Britain, France and Germany -- was given to the Iranians on June 6 and some details were leaked at the time.

But the full proposal showed a broader range of economic, political and energy incentives. They include promoting Tehran's membership in the World Trade Organization, and the possible lifting of U.S. and European restrictions on the export of civilian aircraft and telecommunications equipment.

Under the incentives, the six powers are prepared to help Iran build state-of-the-art light water nuclear power reactors and to give legally binding guarantees that nuclear fuel will be provided for these civilian reactors meant to produce energy.

This would be done by making Iran a partner in an international facility in Russia where all Iranian uranium could be enriched, and establishing a five-year buffer stock, it said.

The six would authorize the transfer of goods "and the provision of advanced technology to make (Iran's) power reactors safe against earthquakes."

Anyone wondering why they behave the way they do has only this to consider - it pays. BTT.

Something tells me Iran won't have much left of a nuclear program in a few days.

No kidding. Thinly veiled appeasement, I'd say.

Seems like everyone is full of hot air. It's all Iran and Syria's fault for what is going on in Israel and they do this? No way they'll take it away, they don't have the guts.

What they really need is toilet paper..

and maybe some drugs to make them relax like Prozac and Zoloft.

Or maybe pot yea that is a great idea. Send them lots of pot and pot plants... so they can grow their own. That will help them relax.

Maybe we can send them our stoners as well.... Naw, one second thought that would just make them angrier than they already are.

OK lets just stick with the pot and toilet paper idea.

This better not be like how Clinton and Cater bargained with North Korea. I actually hope that Iran turns this down so that we can show even more intransigence on their part before we clobber them.

Iran and Syria are long overdue for a major bombing campaign. Violence is the only thing they understand.

They've already turned it down, as they would anything short of being offered the oil fields of Saudi Arabia and Iraq, and maybe a few Trident subs for good measure.

Tick, tick, tick.

The Iranians have already said "NO." The West is seeking to bribe them into giving up the bomb. If I was Ahmedinejad, I'd rather hang tough. Look at how much the West already gave up. I'll just press ahead with uranium enrichment without oversight from any one else. Call this what it really is - Appeasement DeLuxe.

(The Palestinian terrorist regime is the crisis and Israel's fist is the answer.)

Yes, appeasement deluxe is correct. But you can, of course, understand their logic. I mean, look how well the same deal worked with North Korea. We gave them research reactors and they put them only to peaceful use and didn't do anything so crass as use them to generate enriched plutonium to build bombs.....um....never mind.

If we'd had a strategy like this in WWII, we'd have been selling Hitler industrial ovens.

I wonder what I can get if I promise not to make nukes? I'll settle for a yacht and a little cash.
