Considering he's a Mason, it seems highly unlikely that he's a Muslim, considering that the Mason's seem to have some connection in the distant past to the last of the Crusaders.

I don't think he's a muslim, because I read recently about some guy in the Dim party trying to be the first Mooselimb congressman. I bet he's Lebanese Christian, like Helen Thomas and Marlo Thomas. They tend to be leftist and anti-semitic.
Try consulting his bio and a dictionary Einstien. And "somehow got elected to our government"..uh huh, and reelected 15 times, typically by margins of 80% or more, and therefore one of the safest seats in the House.
