I say make him go and negotiate with his Commander in Chief... then see what he comes out with...
Stupid is as stupid does. I wonder how he got up to Lt. Colonel with a streak of stupidity that wide? Maybe just technical competence as a flier. We certainly don't need command officers with that kind of lack of judgment.
He didn't have a problem bombing the serbs?
I do not know that he was in uniform when he committed the crimes. Civilian clothing does not absolve.
I think your post is what he should get...
..but the story seems to imply he is getting an easy out.
This behavior by a 43 y.o Officer is NOT acceptable. If he doesn't have any pscychological problems, Dishonorable discharge- You cannot disrespect the CiC and expect nothing less.
I came out of a shop the other day, and some feminazi had taped a bumper sticker on my car reflecting her values.
(no doubt she didn't like my Choose Life license plate)
I was very offended that someone would do this to my property, even though it was easily removable.
I would be irate if someone had spray painted my car....and especially if that someone was a grown man !!
Yeah, MacArthur rotted in jail for dissing Truman ... NOT !
LOL
"Lt. Col. Alexis Fecteau, a decorated officer who flew 500 combat hours in the Gulf War, Kosovo and Bosnia"
Sounds a lot like Naval Officer Kerry who committed treasonous acts against his fellow citizens and was never tried for those unlawful acts. It would drain his wifes coffers if he ever has to make restitution. Heinz would really be in the sauce!!
Doesn't it say that this guy flew in the Gulf War? And was the "Prez a Republican" when that war took place?
I know a coworker whose hatred of President George Bush is so intense that it completely clouds his judgment and sense of history. He thinks that the first Republican president, Abraham Lincoln was really a democrat because of his labor policies. One of my most beloved books is Carl Sandburg's Abraham Lincoln, The Prairie Years and The War Years. A casual reading of this book shows that Lincoln didn't have much time for Workers Right issues. As someone has said You can't argue with a liberal. Bush derangement syndrome is a real problem for some of these people.
We don't have all the story on this. There is a plea bargain going on here that looks like there's something underlying all this. Maybe prescription drugs or alcohol. A balance is being sought by all parties. If he was defiant and spat on the prosecutor or whatever there would be no deal. There's more here than we are told.
Yikes, a fate worse than death!
I don't believe he got off lightly. The article states that the AF is still determining what grade he will retire at. To me that says that while he may be a Lt. Col (O-5) he doesn't have the required 2 years time in grade to retire at that rank. I suspect he will be required to retire as a Major (O-4) with lower retirement pay. Over the remainder of his life that will be a considerable loss of income and in effect becomes an enormous fine.
You left out the part about destroying others' property in the process of insulting his Commander-in-Chief.
"He didn't have a problem bombing the serbs?"
Why should he, aren't the Serbs Christian of sorts?
Where's the inter-service rivalry posts mentioning the expectation that a Bosnia flyboy vet who lobbed bombs from 15,000 ft could only confront the Bushies by painting their bumper stickers when they were 150 feet away from their car.....
That is "conduct unbecoming of an officer". You don't have to be wearing a uniform to disgrace it.
