BIRMINGHAM, Ala. The head of Alabama's Republican Party has an offer for Democratic Party chairman Howard Dean: She'll pay for the plane ticket if he will come campaign with Democratic gubernatorial nominee Lucy Baxley.
Twinkle Andress Cavanaugh said today she would foot the cost of Dean's flight to Alabama if he'd come stand with Baxley and explain his party's position on issues including abortion, gay marriage, gun rights and taxes.
Cavanaugh made her comments ahead of an appearance by Republican National Committee chairman Ken Mehlman in Birmingham.
Baxley spokesman Jeff Bridges says he didn't know whether the Democratic lieutenant governor was interested in campaigning with Dean.
Dean last spoke in Alabama a year ago, when he appeared at the annual meeting of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference in Birmingham.

We can play *mean* politics here in 'Bama!
Wow, a state GOP party with a spine. I'm stunned
Alabama is Waiting Dean.
Howard Dean is scared, he is not coming to Bama....what the heck is he afraid of.
Ha, ha, this is great!
I'd love to see him here in Idaho too.
Twinkle Cavanaugh? That's good stuff.
:-)
That's funny but so is Twinkle Andress Cavanaugh.
Twinkle Cavanaugh
Graybeard , you realize the Democrat Party Chairman is Howard Dean, but not one Democrat Party Candidate wants to be associated with him.
Don't Underestimate the Twinkle!
That's why it's funny that a Republican made the offer.
She's asking him to come down there and defend his crap, knowing that it won't fly in Alabama.
Graybeard,...did you know that Howard Dean spoke to the Democrat Club at Harvard University, and they wanted it closed to the Press. Could it be Howard Dean is handicap for the Democrats?
No doubt Dean will decline because of a case of democraps.
The Former Vermont Governor , and now Chairman of the Democrat Party, will not take a free Ride to Alabama....what is up with Howard Dean?
We could arrange a big ole bowl of grits for him, too!
Howard Dean....come on Down! Take a Free Ride!
