Condi: Needs two state solution.

Wallace: Danger of civilian damage. One American injured. What is our government doing to get 25,000 Americans out of Lebanon.

Condi: We've authorized departure of our personnel in our embassies. We'll do what we need to do to protect Americans.

Wallace: You said Syria nad Iran are sponsoring Hezbollah. A lot of people believe that Iran is behind all of this. Is it a coincidence that when pressure is brought to Iran, that Iran orchestrates all of this to send a message?

Condi: It is very clear that there is an Iranian hand and financing behind Hezbollah and they've made common cause with Syria. Hamas, Hezbollah, Iran and Syria are all trying to destabilize the area. When progress is being made in Lebanon, they have decided to disrupt that progress.

We have to say to extremists that they will not succeed.

Wallace: Secy's of State for years have gone to the region themselves and given personal shuttle diplomacy to work out a deal. Will you go personally to the region?

Condi: I'm thinking about it and assessing it. I certainly stand ready to do so when I believe I can make a difference . But there are other tentacles at play here and the UN has sent people in. Regional states are playing an important role. The G8 is discussing this.

Let's recognize that shuttling back and forth is not going to help. What kind of framework will really allow us to get out of the immediate crisis but lay a foundation so we don't have a continual problem.

Lots of links, Peach. Thanks. How Russert could tlk about Plame case when he is one of that involved directly in this? Don't conflict of interest apply to them? Anyway, IF Libby trial proceeds, Russert is going to be exposed in full.

So Biden thinks we'd be better off if Saddam was in charge of Iraq during this crisis?!!!

Timmy asks Biden if the President has paid enough attention to the situation. Biden says the Prez doesn't have a policy or a plan (surprise). Newt says it would be wrong to put pressure on the victim (Israel).

Decided to skip Condi diplospeak and listen to Newt who is bright as can be and has a historical perspective about the Israeli situation that seems to beyond Biden's grasp.

OMG! Is there no end to Biden's stupidity. BTW, that's a rhetorical question, I already know the answer!

Condi knows that but she has to say that whatever personally she believes after all she is State Department which is very similar to our Foreign and Commonwealth Office and to an extent you have to be seen to be on both sides of the argument.

She is good, but it's fairly predictable. I've moved to listen to Newt.

Newt: This is an alliance - Syria, Hezbollah, Iran, Hamas.

How would Biden KNOW what the President thinks or plans? Just a blow-hard politician who thinks he has presidential qualifications. Humbug.

It's really scary to imagine how Saddam would be playing this.

Since, Rice avoided MTP, Wallace is trying to be MTP lite.

Timmy reading WSJ editorial. Israel is much less safe because of Iraq. NB: Israel was never safe. As Condi pointed out yesterday, it was a false stability in the MEast.

Hey! What's the problem with this? Wallace Sr, in his latter years, changed from the racist fool he was into a Jimmy Carter democrat fool.

BTW, George Jr. will lose. The state is so Republican that the Luther Strange campaign is really highlighting the George Jr democrat connections. It is a mighty strong ad, and George hasn't countered it. Vote's on Tuesday.

No one questions his intellect. His judgment is another question. Some great decisions and some real stinkers.

Hey Biden - your comb-over is slipping - better get the camera back on Timmy - so that Joe can slap on some "stay" juice.

To the left if stability = tyranny then so be it.

Exactly. But as Condi also pointed out, all that did was allow the terrorists to consolidate and plan.
