Oregon Magazine ^ | July 16, 2006 | Larry Leonard

A once-great American political party has become a pesthole for socialist radicalism. The whining of its principals, people without princples, is now incessant. Take the so-called "outing" of a CIA employee, for example ...(snip)

This fall, I think, all their rhetoric, all their lies, contrary to the pronouncements of their propaganda arm, the mainstream media, will come home to haunt them. All the claims of impending victory for them, including a retaking of the House, the Senate or both, may turn out to be so much whistling in the wind....(snip)

In '06 and '08 I think this is what the Democrats will wake to find the morning after the election results are tallied

The democrats are finished because federally the GOP has STOLEN their welfare state base ( Eg farm bill, Medicaid etc).

in spite of this gigantic voting segment's dissatisfaction with a number of non-conservative Bush policies, this group is not made up of people who bang themselves in the head with hammers because they are too stupid to realize where the pain is coming from.

LOL. I hope this proves to be true in November. We can't move in the right direction if we abandon the field of battle.

If the GOP actually makes gains in this election, against all odds, the author of this article will be proven right beyond even his own wildest dreams.

Well, CF could have been referring to the historical tendency of the party of the President to lose congressional seats in the administration's sixth year.

The truth is the agent in question was a paper shuffler

I really wish her name had been kept a secret. I'm sure as hell sick of hearing it.

Not necessarily. In 2002, Republicans beat the odds to make gains in Congress.

If Joe Leiberman is ousted by his own party from his Senate seat, he might get mad enough to write a tell-all book on the Rats. I'll bet he knows "where a lot of bodies are buried". Should be good reading.

Yes, and that would be some odds. The GOP still has fundraising in its corner, a historical trend in voter registration and recent voting patterns, a limited number of vulnerable seats due to incumbency protection, and a better (less worse?) approval rating than the Dems -- and a proven fundraiser in President Bush that is more popular (less unpopular?) than both Congressional parties.

Absolutely, but many decent people see thru the deceit of the Dems and they're getting fed up and I believe that's the point of the article.

The fundraising point is huge.

But the biggest thing is: are the American People ready to trust the left to protect our security. I certainly think they are not, but I get most of my news here at FR, so I'm not by any means sure that what I think is the mood of America actually is the mood of America.

I overheard a conversation at work on Thursday. It was in the cafeteria. Two guys were talking about the weather (we've had some wild storms here with significant property damage flooding in the region) and one guy mentioned "global warming" and the other guy just offhandedly said "well it's pretty obvious something like that is happening."

I don't know why I mention that... it probably doesn't have anything to do with the election. I think people are some what fed up with the war in Iraq and the whole mid-east in general. I don't get the feeling that they are ready to take that out on the Republicans, though. The democrats are so inept and silly-looking; I just don't think they're ready for prime time yet, or anything close to it.
