Are you from this area? Seriously, 85% of DC is perfectly fine, with gorgeous neighborhoods, I lived in one of them for 12 years.

Yes I am, since I was age 13. I used to play and work in the Upshur Street area of NW DC around the Soldier's Home. I made deliveries to peoples houses with no thoughts of trouble. In those days, if you mouthed off to someone the worst thing that might happen is you'd get a bloody nose.

Now, I'm not sure where you get your 85% number from but other than a few protected livable pockets, the place is a gigantic slum. The once highly professional police force is now a pathetic sham. The political base is RAT driven and corrupt. The school system is one of the worst in the nation. Crime runs rampant...shall I go on?

Now, as to Baltimore, it's little more than a center core of livability called The Harbor where things are really nice. If you venture out from there you go through miles and miles of slum. Again, the same problems with another example of the lousiest school system in the nation, so bad that the state had to take it over. You can thank the inept Mayor for that one but he's just a part of the problem. RAT driven politics permeates Baltimore and their dense population is one of the main reasons we have representatives like Sarbanes and Mikulski and our vote for POTUS every 4 years is automatic RAT.

PG County..used to be a lovely county but no longer, I've lived there too. You can count them as the second reason we have the above mentioned trash for senators and an overall RAT vote for POTUS.

So, in summary, my opinions are based on facts that I have lived with for all my adult life.

I'd be interested in knowing where you get your facts.

Wanted to give you all an update on our progress today. We "landed" in Rolla which is about 100 miles outside of St. Louis; this was ok as we've been averaging over 425 miles per day so far and we are on track to get into town as planned.

I've been asked to come serve as a fellow Pastor at a church in the northwest area of Maryland (near Fredrick). My wife and I got a chance to visit and explore the area over Easter and fell in love with the nice country side and cheap (actually, cheaper) home prices. The church we'll be part of is from the SBC and is about five years old. My wife is a California girl so this will be a bigger impact for her than on me (the Navy took me everywhere and anywhere).

It looks like we are about two days out from our destination but the amount of road work we've encountered has been incredible. Narrowing down four lanes (2 each way) to 2 lanes (one each way) certainly adds a bit of stress to the driving.

Thank you for your continued prayers; when I get settled in in Maryland I'll be interested in meeting up with fellow Freepers in the area. Blessings.

(near Fredrick)

Fredrick is a beautiful area. Lots of little towns nearby too. Mt Airy comes to mind. Great school system.
