McKinney watches documentary

By Mae Gentry | Tuesday, July 18, 2006, 09:40 PM

Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney was watching a documentary called “American Blackout” with about 50 of her supporters at the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Center...

She was seated next to anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan...

Update!

Controversial McKinney in tight race, facing possible runoff

ERRIN HAINES

Jul. 18, 2006

ATLANTA - Democratic firebrand Rep. Cynthia McKinney was in high spirits Tuesday night, dancing and playing a tambourine as election results showed her with a tight lead over a former DeKalb County Commissioner with roots in the heart of her core constitency.

With 80 percent of the precincts reporting, McKinney was leading with 47 percent of the vote to lawyer Hank Johnson's 45 percent. One of the candidates will need to get more than 50 percent of the vote to avoid a runoff on Aug. 8.

Tuesday's primary was the first time that McKinney faced voters since her scuffle with a Capitol Hill police officer in March.

At her campaign party, McKinney continued to flaunt her record of outspokenness on the Iraq war. She entered the auditorium with anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan...

But it might be that Ms. McKinney's celebration was a little premature.

From the Atlanta Journal-Constitution (excerpted):

McKinney, Johnson appear headed for runoff

By Travers Johnson | Tuesday, July 18, 2006, 08:58 PM

As election results poured in, U.S. Rep. Cynthia McKinney and Democratic challenger Henry C. “Hank” Johnson, Jr. appeared headed for a runoff in the 4th District race...

Of course a Democrat will win that gerrymandered seat anyway.

So I'm rooting for Ms. McKinney myself.

"So, her official web site is claiming that MIDWAY THROUGH THE VOTING DAY, that votes for McKinney were being recorded for her opponent.

If her claims were true, shouldn't McKinney herself be able to explain how precinct workers in her own primary were able to determine how many votes were being cast FOR her, and how many were being cast FOR her opponent when your ballot boxes and ballot machines were sealed during the day? As I understand the process, no total nor any "running tally" of votes actually cast is generated, printed, displayed, or accessible during the times the polls are actually open.

Totals are available only to precinct workers (who we hope are honest) after all machines are totaled at the end of the day. So, if McKinney is claiming that hour-by-hour votes are going to her opponent, isn't that itself immediate evidence that the precinct workers (and precinct judges) ARE displaying and manipulating the machine totals? If her (democrat) precinct workers or election judges were NOT viewing and totalling votes as they occurred - then specifically ASKING the voters who had just voted who they "intended" to vote for, how else could they claim to know votes were swapped?"

I think you're right. And McKinney and her campaign should be investigated for voter fraud.

Of course that will never happen. She can even strike police officers and get away with it.

A buddy o’ mine specialized in photoshopping older paintings, for example (IIRC) Caravaggio’s Medusa with Hillary’s head.

It got lost with that hard drive frazzle and blow-up -- unless you happened to save it in one of your kind files, I fear that piece of desecrated genius is no more.

Media Benjamin? Her name is "Media?" How nice for her.

Actually, it's Medea. As in the mythological witch who murdered her children in revenge for her husband's infidelity.

Thanks, Lex.

Gee, that name's even worse.

But I see she can do the electric slide!

In some versions of the myth, Medea also murdered her father, who owned the Golden Fleece, to help Jason steal it.

Given these hounds, I'd say that "Golden Fleas" is a more accurate spelling (old, obscure cartoon reference).
