I guess you are saying that Ronald Reagan was a Founding Father.

?????

I guess willful ignorance must be the answer to my previous question.

Unless you're trying (and failing) to be funny.

There's the difference between you and I... you are bewildered because it doesn't fit your idea of who he is, whereas my view of who he is depends upon the history and current actions he takes. I think the data fit a model that is different from what you want to believe.

I said: "It's a biological fact that an organism's life begins at conception."

You said: "No, it is not a fact, it is still debated. If there was "fact" about when life begins, there would be no debate on abortion. But assuming that life begins at conception (which point in the conception process, BTW?) then explain when a twin's life begins. Were there two lives in that zygote before it split???"

Huh. Give me a citation for any scientist who claims life of any animal doesn't start at conception. What is the point of debate? That the fertilized egg isn't alive? It's DNA is certainly human.

On your point about the splitting and recombining of zygote: If a zygote splits, you have twins. Identical DNA, two individuals. If it recombines, you have conjoined twins. This is a continuum, for there have been cases of a twin (dead) inside another's body.

Zygote splitting doesn't really address the main issue: what does it mean to be human? My definition is human DNA and living. What is your's?

I agree. Plus there always has to be some degree of pragmatic decision making or you can forget about re-election. maybe he finds it hard to Veto a GOP congress's bill- perhaps he thinks that is like weakening your own party ( even if you disagree).

I've heard that as a rationale for his not vetoing bills before, but I don't think it's valid.

If a Republican congress sends you a lousy bill (like THIS one), then it should be vetoed.

I do know that he has said he had spending parameters on the other bills and that the bills the Congress sent were within those parameters, so even though he didn't agree with all the spending, he didn't veto them.

It's CFR that is the exception, IMO. Never should have signed that........ever.

No apology necessary. Just what do you think he meant by the emphasized statement? It's a pretty strong --and anti-historical--inference to draw that he intended open borders. When one can take a general political statement and derive a meaning that is totally against other explicit things a man says, it's dishonest.

Wow. I'll bet you got away with murder as a kid, didn't you? You have a gift, that's for sure.

I've never seen such convoluted logic and dismissal of obvious facts in my life.

Keep the myth alive, jammer. It obviously makes you feel good.

Myself, I prefer dealing in reality and TRUTH.

Get back to me in 15 - 20 years when you're doing the same thing for President Bush.

It'll be fun for me to be correcting you with the historical facts of the Bush presidency while you're deifying him too. :)

Until then, enjoy your imaginary world..........just leave me out of it, OK?

I just don't see any thing I needed to apologize for--and nothing you posted to address any of my points--except that I couldn't recall his campaigning on open borders. I still have seen no evidence, despite your insults. What obvious facts were dismissed? I thought we could have a good discussion. I see now, we cannot.

But I can see no way a rational person can call him a conservative, due to the horrendous things I allude to. And those things are completing the destruction of the Goldwater ->Reagan Conservative movement, which destruction was started by GHWB. We can debate whether GWB's moral image is well-grounded or whether it is political expedience, but the real problem is that he HAS to philosophy and is ideologically baseless. It's apparent that, witness the immigration speech, he can blow smoke as well as anyone, excluding Clinton.

The person who posted this is not interested in a civil discussion. The hyperbole and insults in it preclude that possibility.

Perhaps if you concede that a rational discussion can be had on the conservativism of George W. Bush relative to Ronald Reagan with rational people defending the conservatism of this President, we can start from ground zero.

But as long as you have the pre-set notion that I am irrational, and you have the grave misconception that President Bush is moral only in 'image,' we have nothing to talk about.

And since you don't seem inclined to apologize for this initial slam, I doubt that's ever going to happen.

Just remember this. Mythologizing Reagan in order to diminish Bush only diminishes Reagan.

The fable about the cherry tree didn't enhance Washington's true reputation, and defending Reagan's errors and dismissing his humanity won't help him either.

Reagan was a great President and a fine leader......... as is his political and moral heir, George W. Bush.

Have a nice life, jammer. And be exceedingly thankful that God, in His mercy, has given us two incredibly strong and righteous leaders in our lifetime.

Oh, phooey...........one last Reagan quote from the 'statist' 'globalist' Gipper.....

“...it makes one wonder about the illegal alien fuss. Are great numbers of our unemployed really victims of the illegal alien invasion or are those illegal tourists actually doing work our own people won't do? One thing is certain in this hungry world; no regulation or law should be allowed if it results in crops rotting in the fields for lack of harvesters.”

From a Radio Address entitled "Apples," dated November 29, 1977.

I rest my case. Good day.

"So sperm and eggs are also individuals?"

After fertilization, yes.

You asked if 2 fertilized cells that fused together were 2 different individuals. My response was that after they fused, they became 1 individual, not 2.

You were not asking about fertilized eggs that fused, then seperated again. I would have answered that as a different situation, which it is.

If two individuals fuse to give one individual, what happens to the other individual?
