"Marriage is about forming a father-mother unit to have and raise kids. Not love or romance. That's icing on the cake..."
You are right. And I've been thinking about this for days, but I'll say it here, it was D.i.v.o.r.c.e. that started all these problems. Blame Henry VIII. Because that was when marriage was turned from a society building/child rearing institution into a "self actualization" pleasure cruise.
I think we see how it's turned out.
Flame away all!
Henry may or may not have been the catalyst for divorce in the 16th C. but I think we can find more recent causes which produced the current catastrophe of broken marriages.
In their demand for marital rights, homosexual activists often point to the high rate of failure of traditional marriage.
For those of us who believe that marriage is the union of one man and one woman, maybe we should be more outspoken about the high divorce rate of heterosexuals.
