Religious rights undermined By Clint Haggart
When the Supreme Court of Canada and previous Liberal government said same-sex marriage will be recognized in Canada, they said churches will never be forced to perform one of these marriages. Unfortunately, there will come a time when the gay rights movement will push the issue in court and will likely win. It wouldnt be the first time gay rights groups tried to screw Canadians of faith.
In 1999, Scott Brockie, a Christian printer, refused to publish gay rights literature saying it was in clear violation of his Christian beliefs. He, in fact, had no problem printing for gays and lesbians, but drew the line at pro-gay propaganda. The Ontario Human Rights Commission decided in favour of the gay rights group, and Brockie was ordered to pay $5,000. Brockie decided to defend his actions and in the resulting legal battles was ordered to pay the $5,000 and another $40,000 for court fees. A Saskatchewan man is being attacked by human rights commissions because he took out a newspaper advertisement that simply quoted Bible verses that opposed homosexuality and showed a picture of two stick-figure men holding hands and the picture had a slash through it.
The most recent attack is that of James Loney, everyones favourite hostage. Hes claiming the Knights of Columbus shut down a camp for kids he worked at when they found out he is gay. Has anyone done a psychological evaluation of Loney since his return from Iraq? This is the same guy who recently won the Fearless Award for being a coward and hiding his true sexuality from his captors in Iraq.
If hed started telling his captors that he finds a full beard sexy, maybe he should have won the award. The Knights of Columbus, a well-known Catholic organization, has taken offence to Loneys suggestion (which can easily be taken as libellous), and said there is another reason for shutting the camp down. I wouldnt have blamed them for shutting the camp down, rather than firing Loney for his sexual orientation. Closing the camp may be the only way to defend their beliefs without a costly court case that could result in more of their religious rights being removed. Its bad enough those with religious beliefs are forced over for the gay rights movement in the private world. Many religious people feel their souls are in jeopardy for doing so.
Religious organizations should have the right to refuse anyone for employment if their actions, beliefs or sexuality are in direct violation with their beliefs. It wont be long before the gay rights movement attacks the church and tries to get human rights commissions to force churches to perform same-sex weddings. The government said that would never happen, but in 21st century Canada, courts make the laws not politicians.
The so-called "Human Rights Commissions" are almost entirely ultra-extreme Liberals that are hell-bent on destroying morality. Even if Pat Robertson immigrated to Canada and became Prime Minister tomorrow (using an extreme example), it would be impossible to get around such...
Not any different than in the States. House of Reps couldn't even say no. Says a lot about our govt.
Gays are like Muslims. They love to cry out against discrimination and oppression when they're in minority position, but when they're in majority or in power, they will be the first to oppress other groups.
I'm really impressed by the editorial though; it is a lot easier to publish a solidly conservative message in a small town newspaper than a big city or national newspaper though.
Canada ping.
Please send me a FReepmail to get on or off this Canada ping list.
Any group in that situation would have a no-win case. If they fire the homosexual, they're sued for "hate." If they let him continue, they're sued over the boys he molests.
I've covered elements in this story here & here:

These noisy and offensive characters who claim to be "gay activists" are shooting themselves in the foot with this nonsense. People like myself used to counsel tolerance, and understanding-- until said "activists" started dragging the kids into the discussion. That's where they lost both my tolerance, and support.
Good point
(Go Israel, Go! Slap 'Em, Down Hezbullies.)
Forget that; they want to reign supreme and ultimately make traditional marriage unconstitutional and banned - and marriage ONLY of those of the same-sex. They want to reign supreme.
When you're in the wrong you can either keep fighting against the good guys, against truth, and have no peace, no joy, or humbly repent before God, seeking His help. He's the only ultimate answer for gays or Muslims, or any of us.
