Yeah, as in "wink, wink, nudge, nudge". Fortunately as they reassure their base, they peel up the edge of their masks.

Good info, Oakleaf. Thanks.

The socialist rats are trying to infiltrate hunting and fishing groups and the various state and federal natural resource agencies. Animal rights fanatics are currently attacking hunting here in Michigan.

The Humane Society of the United States has a $100 million budget it uses to attack hunting and fishing. It will be coming soon to a state near you, if it's not there already. Be vigilant.

In his article, Chappell pointed out that "the NRA has supported conservative legislators intent on opening up wilderness areas, probably the most pristine hunting lands we have, to mining and drilling and the building of roads.

... but I don't fret about the federal government breaking down my door to confiscate my battle worn 870 or my late grandfather's octagon-barrel 30-30, nor do I think all gun control laws, such as the ban on automatic assault rifles, are bad.

IOW , "I'm an enviro-kook who supports gun control."

I have noticed from time to time some editorial or letter to the editor that would start with, "I am a hunter and a gun owner..." and ends with "but no one needs a military rifle that shoots hundreds of rounds a minute...semiautomatics have no legitimate sporting or hunting purpose...all I need is my shotgun and my bolt-action rifle."

I have seen a few such commentaries. The usual theme is to try and establish credibility with the reader - the author presents himself as some sort of gun expert. The next goal is to confuse full-auto (not that there is anything wrong with that) and semi-auto guns. Next, the commentary labels any "military" weapon as something no citizen should be allowed to own. Finally, the article argues that it is up to the government to determine what rights we "need" and by the way, the article will happily conclude that we really don't need much of anything. This is a very consistent formula I have noticed in articles and commentaries by certain "hunters."

It would be interesting to see who is funding and organizing this propaganda.

Gun grabber in (poor) disguise!

"automatic"? "assault rifles"? What an idiot! I can't believe that any actual gun owner could be this ignorant. This is a Brady Bunch stalking horse.

Bingo.

This person claims to be a gun owner and hunter but is speaking the shibboleths of the gun-grabbers.

No sale here.

I forgot to add that such "hunters" invariably blast the NRA and "extremists." I do know some Elmer Fudd type people who don't like "extremism." They don't realize that a hunting rifle is a "dangerous sniper rifle" and a fancy shotgun is a "deadly multiple-projectile weapon of mass destruction." I think most hunters know what is going on but there are always some people who don't want to see what is plain as day.

I think they're a classic example of Winston Churchill's description of the appeaser -- a man who feeds the crocodile hoping it will eat him last . . .

The Humane Society of the United States has a $100 million budget it uses to attack hunting and fishing.

Much of it funded by uninformed hunters and fishermen like I once was. My eyes were opened about 2 years ago when my state gun organization's (MCRGO) news letter informed us about the all out assault on my state's attempt to legalize dove hunting.

This legal action was being conducted by and totally funded by the Michigan Humane Association. I have since learned that other anti-hunting initiatives which fortunately were defeated were also supported and funded by the Michigan Humane Association.

On a national level, the Humane Society also funds many envirowaco organizations such as the Fund for Animals and PETA.

In my opinion, the Michigan Humane Society has become nothing more than an anti-hunting lobby that gets its donations from euthanizing animals that people don't want any more.

There are now a miriad of legitimate animal rescue organizations here in Michigan and throughout the U.S. who REALLY DO CARE about abandoned pets and they get most of their animals from THE HUMANE SOCIETY.

My cat squeek will vouch for that! She had less than a day left in her life before she was rescued by a feline rescue group and put into a foster home waiting for me to come along...........

For the record, I really don't know if the AHSA truly represents the rights of gun owners,

But all this made me think about the role of the NRA plays in preserving the future of hunting. In looking at today's political landscape, it seems like we might need another group to step up and save hunting before the NRA destroys it.

Could it be that the NRA is worried that the gig is up and hunters will start to figure out they have been the ones who have been duped?

The author clearly contradicted himself right out of the gate. I know nothing about the AHSA but I do know that if they and the writer of this hit piece were truly on the up and up, there would have been no attempt to blast the NRA but every effort would have been made to try to merge the alleged concerns of the AHSA (hunters rights) with those of the NRA.

AHSA = a wolf in sheeps clothing........

AHSA ......A$$ Holes Shoot Anything.

This must be the quintessential Liberal gun organization. Note the memory of Kerry trying to liik comfortable hefting a shotgun during the 2004 campaign. Liberals have a facination with guns and the things that appearing with one can GET them.

Its an image thang!

Who are we to stand intheir way if they want to have their picture taken while pretending that gun use , training and ownership are part and parcel of their lifestyle.

If their fascination with guns is only superficial , why should we stop them from allowing personal =firearms use for our liberal aristocracy while denyomg the same to ordinary Americans who are uneducated in the proper use of firearms for status reasons?

Even that mavin of Gun Control, Chucky Schumer, is at heart a totalitarian kid who delights in gun use himself but cannot possibly see why any ordinary American would need one to invoke the status of aristocrat to which he and others like him pretend. Join AHSA today and carve your aristocratic status in stone, and make the PC declaration for all to see that you will never shoot another human being no matter what. ( Yeah right!)

Future AHSA member Chucky Boomer Schumer pops a few caps:( and he wants gun control?)
